So after being on MFP for months, but tracking on an inconsistent basis I have recommitted to this change of lifestyle. My questions is basically is it more important to get in your daily calories or to meet your macro goals? The only macros I even look at are my protein and my fiber, but I am trying very hard to keep close to my calorie goal. Advice please

It's important to do both. The only macros that are important are protein and fat. Eat .82g/lb of body weight of protein a day, and .4g/lb of body weight of fat a day. The protein minimum is to preserve/build muscle whether you're losing weight or adding muscle. The fat minimum is for hormonal reasons. Dietary fat intake is very important. Fiber isn't considered a macro, but you should get 20g at a minimum of fiber, I try to shoot for 40g a day. Once you hit fat and protein minimums for the day, the rest of your calories can come from any combination of fat, protein, and carbs that you'd like.
