I think that the best place to start. Also, if you don't know how to cook, learn. Making food yourself will usually give you better taste, fewer calories and more health benefits! :)

Especially if you think you hate veggies, buy ones you haven't tried and make them in different ways. Nun less you absolutely hate a veggie, there is probably a way to make it that will result in something you like to eat. :)

Here's another fairly helpful link: http://www.fitness.gov/eat-healthy/how-to-eat-healthy/

And sodium! You'll read all kinds of things here about sodium, most of it isn't what experts recommend. Read what the AHA has to say: http://sodiumbreakup.heart.org/sodium-411/

And always check with your doctor to find out what is best for you. :)

Best way i found is just to start logging your food (I'm assuming you've just starting off with mfp) and becoming more aware of what you're eating and in what quantities and from there start making small adjustments, it will come naturally as you will want to meet your calorie goal. I suggested the same to my hubby he's already made switches from sugary drinks to sugar free and found his lunch to be very high in cals so switched it up to low fat cream cheese and rye crispbread instead of white bread with butter and turkey.

I'd also say add plenty of veggies to your lunches and dinners start with the veg you actually like and move to the more adventurous later.

Keep it simple to begin you can start focussing on your macros once you've got the hang of it and don't deny yourself anything you'll only want it more, focus on portion sizes instead.
