How much do you go over on your cheat day?

I also wanted to say that different things wok for different people. I have found that "cheat meals", "cheat weekends" or "cheating" in general just didn't make me feel good mentally. It wasn't so much about gaining weight or destroying my progress (you'd have to do some serious caloric damage to do that), but more about how it made me FEEL both mentally and physically. It doesn't make me feel good to eat a bunch of crappy food.

However, I know many people who have cheat meals and it helps them to stay on track throughout the week. It gives them reason to follow their diet pans and gives them somthing to look forward to. It's like a reward.

You just have to figure out what your personal goals are and what is going to help you to reach them.

Side note: I have lost 77 pounds at my smallest and have held steady at a 65 pound weight loss for the past year and a half.

No such thing as a "cheat day" either make a commitment or dont. Dont be weak and think you " need" a day of being careless. Make a goal then get to it.

There's nothing "weak" about it. As you can see, people in this thread, including me, have "cheat days" and still lose. It's nice to have one day a week where you don't have to overthink what you're about to eat, especially when your daily calorie intake is 1200. And as long as you're not completely cancelling out your weekly deficit then I see no harm in it if you're still losing weight.

How would you know if you didn't log?

Because I control myself and can't actually eat that much anyway. Like I said before, my "cheat day" is having small extras, not binge eating all day. If my "cheat day" involves a big meal with friends then I'll eat less before or add extra exercise... it's worked perfectly well for me. I've lost 4-5lbs in the last few weeks doing this, sticking to my 1200 cals and exercising for 30-45 mins a day. I also had "cheat days" when I previously lost 4 stone.

I don't have cheat days, if I really want something I fit it into my calories. I find looking at the numbers is a big deciding factor in what I choose to eat. Most of the time the "cheat foods" I can't justify eating.

That being said, I'm pretty good at just sampling things I want instead of going overboard and eating an entire serving.
(Ex. A spoonful of ice cream instead of a heaping bowlful. Two to three French fries instead of the whole plate. A sip of fruit juice instead of a litre)
I was a binge eater and doing those tiny portions keeps my cravings in check. I do have some foods that I just can't eat in moderation so I stay away entirely (pop and certain fast food places).

    Yeah, this.

For some people it will knock them off track and make them maybe give in and for others it helps them along on their weight loss journey.

I don't go over intentionally, why would I want to cheat myself?

If and I mean "if" I have a cheat day, I never go over my calorie limit.

Then it is not a "cheat day".

The beauty of CICO is that we can eat whatever we want, as long as we remain within our calorie limit. :) So I eat all sorts of foods I like all the time. Just not very many calories worth.

I don't cheat, I make it fit, or I go over.

I do not have a cheat day. I decide to be accountable in everything I eat and do. Cheating implies that you did something wrong, for which I say HA! I have decided to have no regrets, nothing to feel bad about myself about.

I don't eat any more, but I do have more extramarital sex. It's my guilty pleasure. Then back on the wagon the next day.

I don't have cheat days, but I eat a little less during the week so I can have some extra cals for the weekend. I can eat as much as I want as long as I finish under my weekly cal goal.
