A couple of weeks ago I got really ill. I haven't been ill in a long time, but because of the way I have been eating, drinking, and smoking these past few years it hit me really hard. What was worse is I didn't really have the funds to go to the doctor. I got to a point I felt so bad i started to think maybe i should call an ambulance. Well I ended up making it through day 1 without having to do that. The next day I felt a bit better, but still really really messed up. My insides felt like they were tied in knots. It was hard to eat. Anything that i put on my stomach, even light food felt like knives, and hot embers. I really felt like I was in trouble, but still, not enough money to spend several hundred dollars to have doctors run tests on me.

That day I decided I would heal myself the old fashioned way. I would buy some healthy foods known to flush out my liver, and kidneys, and maybe if I was lucky, my digestive system would kick back up, and i wouldn't be miserable. I also knew if this didn't work, then there was a good chance I had a real problem, and that it was my own fault for the years of self abuse health wise.

Luckily I did get better, and on top of that i felt better than i have since my early 20s. I decided if just what little i did made that much of a difference, then what must it be like on the other end of the spectrum.

So I started doing a lot of research, looking for healthy foods that were rich in good nutrients for the body, what each of those nutrients did to regulate my body, and determining what ive really been lacking all of these years as far as daily percent values. Afterwards, I bought as much as i could: Raw Spinach, Baby Carrots, Mixed Unsalted Nuts, Oatmeal, Tomatoes, just regular every day stuff that I guess we should all be eating, but I never did.

As early as the next day after meeting all of my daily values of nutrients I felt more energy than ever. I slept well (which never happens), I woke up clear headed, i felt like i was breathing better, my heart wasn't trying to beat outta my chest while i was walking up and down the stairs. It was a transformation that I didn't think possible. What's more is I guess its been so long since I got the right amounts of those nutrients, or even if ive ever gotten the right amount my whole life, that I wasn't craving bacon and gravy and eggs for breakfast. I wanted a glass of my low sodium vegetable juice with an egg white omelette made with spinach and tomato. I have never craved something like that my whole life. If someone had offered that to me 3 weeks ago, I would've laughed in their face, got in the truck, and went to Mc Donald's.

I joined MyFitnessPal because i get the feeling the only reason I am craving this stuff right now is because my body needs them to repair the damage I have done to it. I am really scared that there is going to be a point where I am going to want a cheese drenched, bacon cheeseburger, or a 12 pack of beer, or wanna pick up another carton of cigarettes and then I will fall right back into my same old pattern. I am really glad to be here, and I hope to meet as many of you as I can, because I also know that this is going to be impossible in the long run if I have to do it alone.
