Is my health actually in a dangerous zone???

Ever since I was a kid I was always just a little bit chubbier than considered normal. Nothing huge, but my largest was 148 at my 5'3 frame in high school. Well, frustrated that I was always about five pounds overweight, I decided to change that. I started to use this site and exercise more to lose weight, and I did. I will admit that in the beginning I went way lower with my calories than is considered healthy, but gradually I adjusted them to something more sustainable. I lost about 1.5-2 pounds each week. Now, a little over a year later I've lost 40 pounds and am now 108. Needless to say, my parents freaked out. I understood their concern, I did have some eating disorder tendencies, and I'm continuing to deal with them. But now my parents claim that my weight is too low for my size. However, my endurance capabilities in running and sports have increased, my blood pressure is 115/79 and I always eat regularly, generally very healthy foods. I have no desire to lose anymore weight, I just want to go to the gym to work out again but my parents have forbid me to do any exercise until I get my weight up to 110. I know that's not a huge deal, but to me I see no reason for it if my body is in a healthy condition. I admit to eating disorder tendencies in the past, and I'm still working on them, but my reason for wanting to work out again is to challenge myself. I think they believe I want to to burn calories. That isn't true at all. I miss running, I miss the endorphins, I miss feeling strong. Do any of you understand? I'm going to continue to eat well and up my calories, but I just really want to start exercising now. Thoughts?? I feel stuck and I need some good advice or insight.

I dont know if its dangerous or not, but I would suggest that you and your parents make an appointment to visit a doctor and possibly a dietician to 1) find out if in the opinion of the doctor you need to gain a few pounds and 2) that you truly are eating healthy. That way both you and your parents understand what is healthy for you and what isnt. Continue to deal with your eating disorder tendencies, perhaps in conjunction with a therapist and your parents? This allows your parents to be assured and gives you the tools to avoid problems in the future.0
