Protein powder (whey) shelf life

My whole foods brand whey concentrate/isolate blend has a "best before" date that's in 2 years. Once the can is open, though, how long before it starts to go bad (taste or otherwise)? I use it infrequently on low dietary protein days and even more infrequently in some baked goods.

It should be good for about 2.5 years even once opened. When whey goes bad the taste changes dramatically and you'll be able to tell.0

Thx! Just finished my first can. Open maybe 3 mo or so. The last sip tasted kind of funky, so I wondered. Not dramatic, but a bad aftertaste.0
