Core strengthening exercises

I got some pretty depressing news today at the doctor. But she wants me to work on core strengthening but I can't do sit ups, crunches or leg raises (I broke a part of my lower back, years ago and just now finding out but laying on my back causes me tons of pain). I have planks, standing crunches, kettlebell swings, and side bends. I'm gonna look online as well but hoping someone else out there has some idea's.

There's a lot you can do with planks: side planks, star planks ( a side plank where you raise the top leg), planks where you raise either an arm or a leg (or one arm and the opposing leg). You might also want to try stability ball roll outs, planks in a TRX, and of course, the ever popular push up.
  • Try stomach vacuums. They're a bit unconventional but they help maintain and develop stronger intra-abdominal pressure. There's a good video explaining it on YouTube by a YouTuber who goes by the name of StrengthCamp if you want a more in depth explanation.
