17kg out of 70, not seeing it yet

As title suggests, I have lost 17kg(37lbs) out of a potential 70kg (154lbs).

Some of my clothes are slightly looser, and my measurements have gone down, but I'm not really seeing it. The only person that seems to have noticed is my mum, but she is quite involved in my journey (in a very supportive way), and seems to notice every kilogram!

Is this normal at this stage of loss? Am I expecting too much? If so, when will it start to be more visible? I know I have a lot left to lose, only a quarter the way there.

Any advice, anecdotes etc would be greatly appreciated :)

Have you taken progress photos? I think they're really helpful for this exact reason. I inspect myself every day so I don't notice the changes as much until I compare it with older photos. My brain just forgets how I used to look. And depending on your style of clothes, they may take a while to obviously not fit.

I think similarly people who see you every day don't notice as easily. Or they have noticed but haven't said anything. A lot of people consider it rude to comment on someone's weight. I'll only comment if someone tells me that they've been trying to lose/gain muscle etc and THEN I'll say "Ohhh I totally thought you had, you look great" etc.m

Your loss is super impressive! Keep going!

It can be crazy how the weight comes off. For months the scale said I was losing weight, but my clothes all fit the same way. Then, suddenly, out of nowhere, all of my pants started falling down every time I went out for a walk. I'm lucky I didn't get arrested. I bought new pants and needed a 3 inch smaller waist than I had. At the rate you're going, you will see awesome results. Just keep going.

You know how you hear people say they just can't lose weight here, or there... Whatever their area of concern is? It's because we focus so much on wanting to lose in specific places. But the body will lose a little bit in all of the places. It's harder to see it because we look in the mirror and think "it doesn't look like I've lost 37lbs from my stomach and thighs". I have had the same thoughts on my losses. But I also took measurements in the beginning. I was amazed that I lost 4" from around my rib cage! Didn't really feel like I needed to lose 4" from there in the first place! It just wasn't an area of concern to me, so I wasn't even looking for progress there.
Clothes getting loose is an undeniable sign of progress though. Allow yourself to enjoy your success and keep it going.

All of the above, and as mentioned, start taking pictures of yourself. I look back at old pictures from years ago and am amazed at the difference. It's rewarding and also a great motivator to not go backwards.

I've lost 9% of my bodyweight (6kgs). I didn't know where it came from at first, but my partner knew. It just didn't come off from the places I was looking.

It came off from my back, face, arms and calves and that little speedbump between the back of my legs and bottom. A little bit came off from my waist, but it's been such a slow and steady race, I hadn't seen it.

It's going, the scale is saying so, just might take a while to actually see it.

    17kgs is lot!!
I found that it wasn't until I went and tried on pants a size down from what I thought I was that I could see the weight differents!
