Hi everyone, my name is Clare =)

Since I started this weight loss mission (on 29-4-15), I've lost 13.1kgs (as of 1-8-15). I'm pretty proud of myself!

I live in Australia (so it's been really damn cold for most of this time). I use a Fitbit One and I can get anywhere from less than 1000 steps in a day (hello pyjama days!), to 10 000 steps, my best is about 12 000. My average is probably around 5000. I have a half hour PT session twice a week. An hour of roller skating once a week (I'm new and I fall down a lot, so it's barely exercise). That's pretty much it. I'm not a natural lover of exercise, I like the feeling when I've finished (especially the smug part). But if I spend an entire day reading/on the computer/watching tv, I don't feel like I've wasted the day, I feel like I've had a very enjoyable day doing things I love. Although, it has to be said, sitting around the house does make it hard to not eat like crazy.

I'm not trying to say that exercise is >insert whatever here<.
My point is more how much food matters and how much of a difference it can make.

To go along with my apathy for exercise, is my incredible love for food, especially junk food. It's really good.
So if I had started this thing with the intention of cutting out every delicious thing and sticking to a strict regimen of kale and air, I would have crashed and burned very, very quickly.

I'm aware of my kj allowance and I'm pretty good at sticking to it, or near it anyway.
I still eat junk, even if it might bump me a bit over my daily allowance, I might end the day with a sugary snack (yay!) and a cup of tea. I go out with friends for dinner at least once a week and because I'm pretty good during most of the week, I can be reasonably laid back about what I eat.

Since I started this thing, I've forged some new habits:

Making better choices (as in: I don't eat an entire thing of Pringles and then go searching for 'real food' an hour later).

Portion sizes (as much as I might love two sizeable bowls of carbonara for dinner, it's probably not worth it in the end).

If there is food on the plate and I'm full, or just not really enjoying it, I don't force myself to finish it. It's a waste of food either way.

Whenever possible, I try and prepare my food completely, take everything to the table (or wherever), sit down and eat slowly, drinking water along the way. I find that whenever I'm in a rush and just shove food in my mouth, it doesn't satisfy me in the slightest, if I eat while I'm preparing whatever meal I'm having (which is very possibly a toasted cheese sandwich/cup-a-soup/eggs etc, I'm not fancy), same thing, I'm consuming kjs that aren't really doing anything for me.

To bring this rambling post to an end, I will say this:

You don't have to be a specific kind of person to be successful at being healthy.
You can be you and YOU can be healthy.

You will find what works for you. You'll try, you'll fail, you'll succeed, you'll fail again, you'll succeed like you never thought you could.

Also, for any Parks and Rec fans out there, one of the most inspirational things you'll ever read:

Be the person Chris Traeger knows you can be.

My particulars:

Name: Clare
Age: 28
Height: 175cms/5'9"

SW: 109.5kgs/241lbs
CW: 96.4kgs/212lbs

GW: I'll know it when I find it. By which I mean: I don't know what a healthy weight is for me. According to the BMI, my healthy weight range is 57kgs/125lbs - 76kgs/167lbs, which is obviously a massive range and the BMI has a bunch of variables anyway. When I get to where I'm happy, I'll know.

Thanks for reading =)

TL;DR - Thank you, for being you.
