Hi,
I somehow threw my lower back out this week. I am only 23 and have never had a back problem before and I don't want to stop exercising. Are there any fitness activities that you recommend for someone whose back is healing? Or should I just rest? Btw the pain isn't really bad enough to see a doctor so it isn't a serious injury.

Rest... and see a doctor just to make sure.

You should take all injuries seriously becayse they have the potential to take you out of exercise 100% or even worse to become an more serious injury. use common sense based on how painful or out of the ordinary it is and if its not gone then go and see the Dr. If its been assessed and you have his/her permission then you cna rehabilitate yourself. Swimming, walking or yoga can help with the recovery, nothing which strains your back too much obviously.

Based on what you said if it was me id just rest till I saw significant improvement as thats the way to get you back to exercising safely.

Thanks. You're right. I am actually planning on seeing a doctor Monday because it's gotten worse. I definitely don't want to injure myself further by exercising right now.
