How to lose pear shape and look great

I'm looking for anyone who can help or has extensive knowledge on how to lose butt and thighs. I started mfp in jan and lost about 20 pounds over 4 months. I slacked off due to a new job but now I'm ready to get back on schedule. I noticed that I had lost weight in mostly my face, waist, and maybe an inch off my butt but overall there was not much change. I dropped 25 some odd pounds and still for my same clothes. Im 5'5 23 yrs old 165 pounds. I wear a size 10-12 and literally all my weight is allocated in my butt and thighs. It seems like no matter how hard I work or eat right that problem area wont go away. My goal is about 130-140 and would like to fit in a size 6-7 if possible. Any advice can help thanks in advance.

You have to keep going at it. Also, you'll want to add weight training to your routine else you'll just get smaller but have the same body composition. Weight training is what makes people have awesome physiques.
You can't spot reduce fat from certain areas, your goal should be to lose fat and preserve your muscle to get rid of the pear shapes look.0 -
You can't control where your body decides to shed the weight. My body likes to hang onto the fat on my arms, which drives me insane - it takes SO long to see a difference there even though I'm losing inches elsewhere. Even when I was a lot lighter, my arms were still comparatively big for my size. Your shape is your shape.
If you're pear shaped now, there's a good possibility you'll be pear shaped when you get to your goal weight. You can't spot reduce but adding some definition and lean muscle with weight training can only help! I know you're focused on your lower body but don't neglect your upper body - building some definition in your arms and shoulders might balance out your shape.0 -

I've been underweight and still pear shaped.
Your genetics won't change, but lifting weights will allow you to decrease your body fat and balance it out by some more muscle up top.

I am also pear shaped and like everyone has said you can't just pick one spot and lose. I have been doing alot of upper body recently and have noticed that im looking more hourglassy. Nice defined and toned shoulders really do help give you that hourglass look and really balances out nicely with my hips and booty. And people do notice my hubs and my friends where very impressed.0

My bust, waist & hip measurements (on paper) would class me as Pear shaped, but i have wide shoulders - so i don't look Pear shaped.
I agree with the others, start doing weight training.....in time, it could make a big difference to your shape.0 -
Welcome to the world of gynoid fat distribution As the baby making machines of the race we tend to store all our extra fluff in our hips, bottoms and thighs while men with extra insulation tend to be apple shaped (android fat distribution) .
As everyone has said you can't spot reduce but with a good diet and solid training program that includes resistance training you can make changes.0 -
I like my fit, healthy pear shape, and don't want to develop a larger upper body to "balance it out," just like I don't wear big tops to make my top look bigger. If I didn't have a slim torso, I'd just be curvy all over.0

Yup this is good. Just keep at it. They will eventually get smaller as you lose weight, but they might always be there. I've gotten to the point where i thought my upper body looked "too thin" while my lower body was still "too fat". Weight lifting full body has helped this.0 -
I lost weight overall, and the difference has reduced. So instead of a b cup with 42" hips, I'm only 1 size smaller on top.0

Nope, you can't spot-reduce unfortunately. I'm a pear with wide shoulders as well. After losing nearly 40lbs and having a BMI of 19.9 (eek!) I still can't wear smaller sized shirts because of my shoulders and the chance of finding smaller sized trousers that fit is small as well because of my hips. Oh well... you can't have it all. At least I finally found my maintenance calories and am not losing more weight. Perfect!0

You cannot fundamentally change your body shape unless you are losing a massive amount of weight.0

Weight lift heavy. It will shape you in ways you may not be able to imagine and will probably make you love your pear shaped physique.0

You just gotta keep losing and it will happen for you. You CANNOT spot reduce any area, period. Keep going, don't get discouraged, trust the process and good luck.0

Just replying because I didn't see anyone else mention this, but I have never in my entire life had anyone complain about the comparative size of my lower body (except my mother...when I was in the 4th grade...and weighed less than 100 lbs). I started at 5'6" 170lbs with a 29" waist and 42" hips (+ I wasn't interested in seeing how high the number actually was). Now, I'm 5'6" 130lbs with a 25' waist and 38" hips, so there's still a distinct difference.
It sucks to buy pants, but pants are for squares, anyway.0 -
