Will this help me lose weight?
Breakfast: 16. Oz calcium fortified OJ, 1 Piece 100% sugar free whole wheat bread with PB.
Lunch: Green Smoothie composed of 1c. kale, baby spinach, mizuna, 1 banana, water Or fruit smoothie: 1 banana, 1c. Strawberries, water
Dinner: lean meat or meat free sub. Like boca or Tofurkey, a c. Of a veg, mixed fruit in water, 1 c almond milk
I currently eat one activia a day for digestive issues...will snack on peanuts or a piece of Mozzerella string cheese. I put lemon juice in my water for flavor.

One day of anything isn't going to do much to generate weight loss or gain.
Are you saying you would eat this daily?
Weight loss is created by a calorie deficit. So if eating this puts you at a deficit, it will result -- over time -- in weight loss.
That said, this doesn't seem like much food at all. What is your calorie goal?0 -
what are the caloires and macros for all that?0

This would be daily with a variation in proteins, vegetables, and fruits. This app says only eat 1300 calories a day. I know this is healthier in comparison to my regular diet for sure but I don't know what the calories pan out to being. Definitely less than what I've been eating but not sure if under 1300. I'll try this today and find out.
Also my family practitioner has me taking me a chromium picolinate supplement daily to help level out glucose and curb appetite.

I looked at your profile. It says you are 5' 7" weighing 150 lbs and want to lose 55lbs. Is that correct? That is a huge drop and would not be a healthy weight for you size. From your profile it sounds like you want to be more toned/muscular. Losing 5-10 lbs would help some but more than that is probably not necessary. You may want to consider doing work outs to get you to your goal rather than cutting calories and just dropping lbs. I am 5' 3" and I was much more toned looking at a muscular 135 than at a thin 125. The scale is not always the best indication.0

Hitting the goal of 1,300 is what will generate weight loss -- you can use any foods to get to that goal (of course, you will want to consider your overall health, satiety, etc when choosing foods). If you enter these foods into the app, you will be able to see if you are within that 1,300 goal or not. One suggestion: cups are not the most accurate way to measure food. Many people use a food scale instead because it's much more accurate. Once I got a scale, I realized that my calories were sometimes off by hundreds a day.0 -
Personally I would give up all of the orange juice to be able to chew more of my calories. That is me though, at the end of the day it is all about if you are eating less calories than you are burning and if it works for you. Start trying to log your food and weigh it if possible, that is the only way you will know if it is enough to too much.0

@mommyrunning I'm 198 lbs. 5'7... dunno why it would say otherwise.0

@janejellyroll I'll try that. What should I use as a measurement then if weighing? 1/4 lb? 1/2 lb? Are scales expensive?

I got a food scale for about twenty dollars at Target (most big box stores should have them or you can buy them online). It has the option for ounces or grams. I choose the grams setting.0 -

In your About Me section it says you are 150. That's why I thought that. Glad to know you aren't trying to weight 95lbs :>

Nope lol. .. how do I change it?0

What would help you lose weight is eating what you want/like according to your mfp numbers and logging everything correctly.
Now about your diet plan, it's all about personal preference, I would crash and die and could not survive on that, but if that is what you like or usually eat, go for it.
Good luck0 -

Are you trying for a 2 pound loss per week? That's probably a bit aggressive and why MFP is only giving you 1300 calories per day. At your age and height, you are going to be pretty unhappy at 1300 calories over a long period of time. You might want to consider lowering that weekly goal to 1.5 or 1 pound per week and giving yourself a few more calories. You'll lose a bit slower, true, but better a slow loss that you can sustain than feeling miserable and hungry all of the time so that you eventually give up.
You can buy a kitchen scale almost anywhere. They range from around $20 to $40 dollars. Be sure it does both pounds and grams and has a tare function. It'll make your life easier if you can zero out the scale (tare it) while adding different foods to the same bowl or plate.
I agree with @soapsandropes. Don't have so much of your diet in liquid form. Our bodies process liquids differently than solids and you'll be hungry that much faster.0 -
Does everything you listed result in a caloric deficit?0

You need more protein than that.

Anything you put in your body before it is put through a machine that does part of the chewing or digesting, (juices, smoothies) is robbing you the opportunity of keeping fuller longer with all the fiber intact and using the calories required to chew or digest. There are some foods which need to be ground or cooked to unlock nutrition and insure safety. If you have the , generally speaking eating whole and raw are best, especially for fruits.0

In terms of weight loss, it doesn't matter what you eat. It matters how many calories it has, and if it meets your goal.
Figure out how many calories that adds up to. You'll need a food scale ($10 on Amazon) to do this. Then you can add/subtract foods accordingly.
Personally, I would drop the OJ, add some protein (veggie sausage? eggs?), and not worry about the sugar in the bread.0 -
It's one day. Try looking at your diet every week and every month and see what nutrients/macros you think you can do a better job with and then tweak those things.
For weight loss, though, it's just calories. So, look at the calories you eat compared to those you burn.0 -
