Busted Knee- Stopped working out- losing weight rapidly??

So I busted up my knee a week ago. When it happened, I was at yet ANOTHER plateau. Since I've busted it up, I've been in "bumming" mode. My diet has sucked- I haven't worked out-- and I've def been eating more calories than usual.. NO work out... and the result? I've dropped 6 pounds. I don't understand?? I lost a lot of weight before not working out and just watching what I ate... it seems like whenever I add working out into the mix, no matter what, my weight loss starts slowing down. So. Slow.

Most likely you're losing muscle. Sore muscles hold a lot of water so can artificially inflate your scale weight - when you stop working out that water goes and then after a period of inactivity you're not stressing those muscles so they'll go away...0

You cannot out-exercise a bad diet! If you continue to eat like crap you will gain weight. The weight you lost is probably water. Take the exercise out of the picture until your knee is healed but eat the right amount of calories for you to still lose weight. (Sedentary activity level)0

Water weight loss. I would not worry about muscle loss after one week. But you'll definitely lose water weight.0

I took off from the gym for 3 days & dropped 5 lbs. The day after I went back, I'd gained 4 lbs back. No worries, though. Keep your calories in a deficit & nurse that knee back to health & you'll be fine!0
