The right foods!!

Oh gosh I'm finding it hard to balance out the right foods. I am categorically not going to go on massive health kick and not eat crisps for a year. I might have a packet twice a week because I find that if I don't, it'll demotivate me and set me on a binge. That said, I'm finding it hard to eat healthier foods. On some days I have eaten fatty and salty foods (crisps, chocolate bar etc) but still managed to stay within my daily allowance.
I'm on q budget and working full time so I'm trying to find really easy meals.
Any ideas or thoughts?

If you stay within your calories, you should still lose weight.

I eat chocolate nearly every day. Has your doctor told you to eat specific things? Or avoid others? If not, eat what you like. Calorie deficit equals the weight loss.

I feel that saying "eat what you like" is a bit of bad advice. You could eat all your calories in chips (crisps) and diet Coke, you could stay within your calories, and you wouldn't be very healthy.

OP, the best thing I've found to do is to plan my entire day ahead of time, as much as possible. Earlier on I was just writing down what I was eating as I would start that meal, and maybe planning a bit ahead if I knew I was going out to eat that night or something like that. But by planning it all out ahead of time you can be sure to get enough protein, fruit/veggies, calcium, etc. and you can plan for the calories in chips or some good dark chocolate or whatever else you like and don't want to give up. But that way the chip calories don't take you by surprise and cause you to go over your calories for the day.

Two packets of crisps isn't going to stop her from losing weight or being healthy.

Finding a healthy way of eating and thinking about food that's sustainable can be achieved even with some chips (as I'd call them).

Dismissing my advice by turning it into an extreme example is a logical fallacy.

I had to slowly over time cut junk from my diet with 1 weekly cheat day to keep me sane.
Like others, I have lacked the willingness or ability to moderate. Bully to those who can!

I made the switch about 4 years ago to whole foods: lean meats, fresh fruits and veggies, nuts, whole grains, beans and raw, whole dairy. It sure made my journey much easier, and whole foods are nutritionally dense as opposed to processed foods.

But one day each week, I need bacon with my doughnuts and chocolate milk.... >:)
