Let me just say this first. I am a reasonably intelligent person. I have a career, I take care of a home, family, etc. I even did ok in school.

Last Saturday when the cable service went out, I was the one who spent AN HOUR on the phone with tech support, testing, resetting and unplugging and all that. Still had a problem with the channels, so had to schedule a visit. They couldn't make it until today - WEDNESDAY.

Turns out, after being without TV for five days (which was kind of nice, actually), the problem was simple. After all the unplugging, I failed to PLUG IN the main source. Five days. All my fault.

So, there will be much mocking in my house for some time, I'm sure. Make me feel better and tell me how you messed up!!

LOL. Don't feel bad, I am sure that's happened to lots of us. Not that I am admitting anything...

I've plugged my charger into my phone and never plugged the charger into the wall plenty of times. You aren't alone.

Oh Dorothy, not that I am laughing AT you (but...   ) that is hands down the AWESOMEST thing I have read today!

OH edited to add MY OWN screw ups... :blushing:
I have been known, not once or twice, but MULTIPLE times to SCREAM AND YELL for MyBoobar to come to the bathroom to help me find my glasses after waxing my eyebrows (because I am blind without them or contacts) only to have him remove them from my HEAD. Now he just yells back... "I'm not getting up to come in there until you touch the top of your head!"

    KISS
    Keep It Simple Stupid

Was something I had to engrave into my brain when I first became a mechanic. That common phrase is something I repeat daily as now I'm a computer nerd and always have to remember that most the time it's the easiest/simplest thing to resolve the issue.

So are you allowed to touch the television now :P
    lol

The funny thing is - I DON'T touch the tv!! This box was out in the garage and "boosts" the signal. So we still had internet, and oddly "On Demand." Just no tv. At one point my husband said, "You have NO idea how to play a show from On Demand, do you?" Uh, no, no I do not. Probably why I didn't miss the tv so much, either! :blushing:

One time when I was getting gas, I kept putting in my pin when it asked for the pump number. I struggled for like five minuets until my sister had to help me and now makes fun of me forever.

i yelled at my mom because she'd borrowed my (1979) mustang and couldn't get the key out of it. i had forgotten to tell her that you have to push up the button at the bottom of the steering column to release it... :frown:

Oh boy...now I feel better!! Now to tell you my story. Last week the pool pump
gave an error message that I thought meant add more salt. And no, I didn't look
it up in the owners manual. Just kept adding salt and more salt and more salt...
6, yes six, 40 lb. bags. Turns out the error message meant the filter needed changing.
Duh!! Now I am draining and adding more water.
It helps to be able to laugh!! ????

I went to do laundry the other day and the washer I usually use was being used.so I go to one I haven't used before and it cost 4 dollars in quarters only. The washer had these slots where you put the quarters in and then push the whole tray in to start it.Well I put my soap and softener in and then put my quarters in.The washer didn't start... so here I am taking the clothes out and putting them in the washer next to it.again, I put more laundry soap and quarters and push the tray in and again it doesnt start. So here I am cursing and yelling at the machines and looking for number to get the " 8 dollars" I lost back...and then it clicks....I only put 2 dollars in and didn't realize that the slots only took 2 bucks at a time so I had to do it a second time.I felt so stupid.I should of been born a blonde lol

My mom always rents a car when she comes out here...we stopped for gas & she was standing there getting frustrated trying to open the the door on the gas tank. So I got out, went over & looked at it. I then proceeded to hunt all over the dashboard for the elusive button that open the damned tank. My part in this went on for like 5 minutes before, out of sheer frustration, I pushed on the gas tank cover...opened right up.

Oh & I'm guilty of the whole epic panic attack of "WHERE'S MY CELL PHONE?!?!?!" while I'm talking on said cell phone...

Until now. Let me say, however, there WAS a problem to begin with. And all of the interaction was very pleasant. Maybe a more positive spin is, "job security."

I am the one who manages the team of field support techs that talk to customers such as yourself.

Everyone is correct, things like this happen ALL OF THE TIME.

Now if you added to this scenario that you answered the door naked, or had porn playing on your laptop, or you left your toys out...well, that is common too. Call center reps, and field techs, love these situations...gives them stuff to talk about.

When we lived in our apt, there were a hundred cable wires all over and around the house from the past (and present) tenants. Lazy landlords I guess. Anyway, my bf was outside mowing the lawn and kept *****ing about cables on the lawn near the house. So what did he do? Grabbed a pair of scissors and cut said cable. Needless to say, it was the only live cable connecting our tv to 200 precious channels. The cable company couldn't come out for like a week and I didn't let him live it down the whole time lol.

Darn, sorry I couldn't oblige! On the flip side, when it was installed, I guess the tech decided to "test" our internet ... on a porn site. (Saw it right after he left.) So he gave me something to talk about as well!

You are not alone, we all have done dumb things like that. And our friends just love to point them out.
