Is exercise terrible for a leaky gut? I read that it is and since I suffer terribly from it, until I heal I was wondering if I need to step back temporarily...

I guess it depends on the individual. I have Crohn's disease and I run about 50 miles per week and do yoga daily. My doctor supports my exercise. It is when I do not exercise that I feel the worst. I feel like exercise is what keeps me "healthy".

Leaky gut syndrome may or may not exist, and your doctor may or may not subscribe to the hypothesis that it causes various health problems. I wouldn't stop exercising. If you're overdoing exercise, of course, back it off until you're at a level that is appropriate for your current level of fitness.

Stepping back should include something. Perhaps you should not weight lift, but instead do yoga or just the elliptical. Movement will always be better than stagnant unless you broke a limb. Stress relief is usually helpful to a lot of medical issues.
