Of course - you may not see it on the scale though, and if you tend to bloat or be like most women during that time, you'll see a gain on the scale. It's temporary, so if scale numbers mess with your head, stay off the scale during that week.

But whatever you "gain", as long as you stick to your cal goals, will drop back off the scale within a few days.

Can you lose fat? Yes. But you're going to be retaining water weight that will mask the loss.

Thsnks guys! I an afraid of my scale in general so this is a nice excuse not to go near it. I ate more calories than usual today but not even 1200 calories.

    What?!

You aren't eating enough. 1200 is the MINIMUM, not the maximum.

Depends on the cycles for me. I have what I refer to as a "jerk ovary". Every other month, my period bizarre, with spotting a whole week before, then lasting up to 9 days. So my first month of eating healthy, I continually lost during my period. Not a lot, but it went down every day. The next month (jerk ovary) I was stuck at the same weight for over 2 weeks. Nothing else changed, I eat petty much the same rotation of food all the time and I drink nothing but water and occasionally red tea in the morning. It's just how it is, it's not worth being afraid of the scale.

My periods are a lot lighter when I diet, but I retain water badly.
