Looking for New Running Shoes

I'm about to start training for a half marathon (woot!) and I'm looking for any good recommendations on new shoes.
I currently have a pair of Brooks Adrenaline GTS. I have bad ankles and flat feet so I usually go with shoes that offer a little more support, but I also use dr. schols active insoles because they help with my shin splints (they are like magic actually!).
Any recommendations would be appreciated!
Thanks :)

Have you been properly fitted at a running store? Where they analyse your gait for pronation and then find a shoe to support you based on that?

I'm not a pronator and have relatively wide feet. I have Asics Gel Nimbus and they are perfect for me.

Yes, head to a local running specialty store and get fitted. Road Runner Sports is a national chain that is very good. That being said, I need a "light" stability shoe and am loving my Adidas Sequence 7's. The 8 is out now but I haven't tried it yet. I have flat feet too.

Not really adding anything new to the conversation here, but what the heck, I like to hear myself type.
Definitely go to a specialty store and get properly analyzed and fitted. Aside from getting a personalized shoe, you'll enjoy the experience of someone in the retail business actually taking care of their customer. It's a novel experience. Good luck.

The Brooks Adrenaline is a great shoe. If it plus the insoles is working for you--don't mess with what works!

I agree running store!! I am in love with my new balances and my Dr. Schols. I tend to run landing on my side and had horrible shin splints they fit me to new shoes and they are awesome shin splints gone and I am now running like a champ.

Running store or if you don't have one near there is a guide on Runner's World website. That is what I did my second half marathon! It really did helped me. I was using Nike's and switched to Mizuno's. My knees were happy campers after that! Good luck on your half! I love that distance! It will always be my favorite!
