Hi all! I've been doing mfp for a while now and it seems to be going well so far! I've set my goal to lose 0.5 pounds a week and considering sometimes I indulge im doing well slowly yet surely! However, I've been keeping track of my weight loss by using a tape measure and have lost a good few inches on my stomach and waist but my thighs are the same they were when I began this! It appears I am stuck in a rut where weight is coming off everywhere else except my thighs. Does any one have any reasoning for this? Do you lose weight off certain parts of your body at different times ? :)

Your body will take the far from wherever it's easiest. Genetics determines where yours will be. Just keep a deficit, it'll probably come off your thighs too, eventually.

Though some studies have suggested high cortisol can change where/how fat is stored.

To slim my thighs I started biking. 2 - 3 spin classes a week last winter. Now it's summer so I road bike and shoot for 50 miles a week. My thighs have reduced drastically. My quads have bulked up but there is little fat on my thighs. So I think they look good.

Yes you lose inches at different rates on diff parts of body. Right and left sides are different. Sometimes a measurement goes up! Track the total inches lost and don't stress about it. Also make certain you are measuring in same spot. And same way each time. Best to use a tape measure made for taking body measurements not one for sewing. Best to have someone else measure you rather than take your own.

Everything has gone down for me at a quicker pace than my things. I know they're smaller than they once were, but they look worse because now they're so much bigger and all floppy. Part of that is loose skin, but it's just so gross.

Even without the loose skin, though, they still have not decreased like my waist has. That just gets smaller all the time and they do not.

A lot of women complain about their thighs, though. That's one thing I've noticed. We aren't alone in that. It's pretty common.
