So this may sound strange, but i go to an all women's gym that in a grocery store. The weight floor is small. there are a lot of machines and free weights but there aren't any barbells. Would that be okay for books like starting strength or the new lifting for women?

Almost all barbell exercises have a version that is similar with dumbbells. You can look stuff up online on how to do it with dumbbells instead of a barbell.0

I actually think dumbells are better since you have more range of motion and also involve stabilizing muscles.0
