Celiac weight gain

I was diagnosed with celiac last Oct. I exercised before getting diagnosed 5 to 6 days a week and now I am back to that level. The problem is my body refuses to cooperate and I cannot drop weight. It behaves like I am eating junk. I used the food log and scanner to be true to the amount of food I am eating. It doesn't seem to matter. I have considered that I may have another food allergy but I wasn't sure if I am expecting too much in less than a year of being gluten free.

What does your doctor recommend?0

Are you using a food scale to weigh your food? If not, you're eating more than you think. It isn't junk food that causes weight gain, it's too much food.0

I gained weight initially after being diagnosed, but it leveled off within a few months. If after this long you are still gaining or maintaining then it is more likely something is off with your logging. If you don't have a food scale, getting one and weighing everything would help tremendously. Plus a food scale really helps with gluten free baking!0

A lot of people gain weight after diagnosis. I gained some but I was also a teenager at the time so it's hard to say. It makes sense because previously your intestinal villi were compromised and you weren't absorbing all the nutrients from food. Now that you are gluten free you will start absorbing nutrients like a healthy person. It seems unfair but you probably won't be able to consume as many calories as you used to. On the bright side you won't feel sick all the time. Good luck
