hey all!

I am wondering if anyone else has issues of dry mouth when eating gluten?? I am trying to figure out the cause of my dry mouth and think it is more m than likely linked with gluten. Thanks!

I have never heard of this. I have celiac disease so I can't eat gluten. A lot of medications can cause dry mouth and of course not drinking enough water could be a cause. If you think you have an intolerance to gluten you should see a doctor but if that's your only symptom I'd be surprised if gluten is the cause. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

My husband has celiac disease and often suffers from hydration-related issues, but I can't say for sure whether the two are related. If you don't have celiac disease, you shouldn't expect gluten to do your body any harm.

I don't have celiac but when I eat gluten, I get congested. It lasts a few hours then usually clears up. I've cut out gluten completely and don't have the issue anymore. I would eliminate it and see if it gets better. If it doesn't, you can talk with your doctor about the problem.

@mrsroddy1228 Jsyk if you are thinking about getting tested for celiac you may want to do that before trying the elimination diet. The test won't work unless you've been consuming gluten regularly. Hope you find something that works for you.

Thanks! I have actually already had the blood test done but it came back negative.
