Hey mom's dad's guardian I have 5 kiddos 15,13,12,5,4 .all are health and in good shape some of the time they join into workouts but for the most part are normal average kids that would rather fb Xbox or TV my dilemma is not wanting to argue with me about not having a house full of unnecessary foods, poptarts, chips, cakes, candy, ice cream etc. I have a kitchen full of fruit, nuts, yogurt, etc. My questions are does anyone else prevent their kids from eating unhealthy, does it seem unfair, what are others thoughts on this in general.any help, advice, ideas? Thanks.

I have the opposite problem I have to much processed food in the house because I can't keep their tummies satisfied and buying fresh fruit all the time gets expensive. I am getting better but there are certain things my kids just will not eat.

I buy both. I buy the treats they love, but also fruits and they know they are expected to eat healthy snacks and meals, in with their treats.

Hubby is a different matter. He eats only junky food for snacks. If I don't buy it, he'll buy it himself, so there's always junk food in the house. That's fine though, he's an adult and can eat however he wants.

I agree with this. We have all of the above in the house but they are not necessarily eaten every day or in excess. My daughter is pretty good at self-moderation so I don't really worry about her overindulging in any of them. She actually is much more likely to do something like eat an entire pint of berries before she'd eat the second pop tart in the package.

I have 5 babies. 9, 7, 5, 2 and 8 months. They all have fruit and healthy options through the week, granted theres a fair bit of processed food too but the wife works wonders keeping their diet as healthy as possible. Obviously within our budget as, like Mick said, moneys too tight to mention lately.

We spoil them in a Friday with pizza and sweets as a treat day, plus let them have a choccy cerial on the weekend. This seems enough to keep them happy through the week. The biscuit jar we keep for them is my kryptonite though. If ever I fail on my calorie counting you can guarrantee that will have something to do with it.

It just seems that when I tell people my kids are on the same diet plan as me I get a lot of flack and negative attitude, it's as if a healthy or skinny kid is not allowed to eat healthy. I get a lot of why don't you have junk food you and your kids aren't fat? I feel like answering, ya I know it's cause we don't have a lot of junk food. My kids have all 5he fruit and fresh veggies they want there is always greek yogurt in the fridge when it's a birthday or something else to celebrate we have cake and ice cream...moderately...once in a while we have potato chips with our burgers. I just want to be healthy and strong and that's what I want for my kids too. I just wish I didn't feel judged for not getting them hoho and twinkle and twizzlers and junk.
