Hey all- wondering what's better for a breakfast snack. Wheat toast with butter, or wheat toast with peanut butter? Thanks!

The peanut butter will give you a bit more protein so that breakfast might sustain you for longer.0

Peanut butter all the way. Make sure it's the good stuff though, and don't overdo it. If you're trying to lose weight, I would cut out butter altogether. PB in moderate amounts is full of healthy fats and proteins. But alternatively, I would try avocado/poached egg/cottage cheese.0

which ever fits your calories/macros best0

Personal preference.
Look at your day as a whole, hit calories and macros, eat the foods you enjoy.0 -
I'm more of a PB fan myself. Thanks for the insight everyone, I appreciate it!0

Unless salt is added to it, I don't even taste butter, really, so I'd go with PB on taste.
I make my own PB and would say it's more nutritious than butter, so I'll go with it from a nutritional view, too.0 -
True--but it seems like I stay full longer with the PB. Plus-some protein. I've been at a deficit on calories consumed so far at the end of my day so its not bad so far0 -

Yep, that's the personal preference part. Sustainability is a big part of all this, so if one decisions vs another is better for overall sustainability, then go that route. The "perfect" diet isn't so perfect if you can't sustain it long term. Not that there is such a thing as a perfect diet, but you get my point.0 -
I prefer toast/egg/cheese0

IMO, peanut butter.0

Also, you can make your own PB which would maximise the health benefits and minimise the additives, oils etc. Simply stick roasted peanuts in a food processor with a pinch of salt and keep going till smooth (or slightly crunchy)> You can do it with pretty much any nut, almond and pecan both work amazingly. Add some chopped banana and you have an ideal breakfast that will keep your hunger down all day.0

Peanut butter over butter for the protein, but PB only has 7 grams of protein for 200 calories and 17 g of fat. If these ratios work for you, go for it! I need something more substantial for breakfast, but that would work for me for an afternoon snack.

Why would this be better than buying natural peanut butter where the only ingredients are peanuts and salt (or just peanuts if you like unsalted)?0 -
"better" would be pretty relative, don't you think?
maybe look at your diet as a whole rather than getting all wrapped up in this kind of minutia.0 -

If you buy the natural stuff, then nutritionally no different! Just fun, and you can play around with different nuts I can also work out cheaper.0 -
I would go with PB but skip the toast and put it on celery, cucumbers or an apple instead.0
