I suspect you won't find much support here for such a ludicrous program.

I actually tried it once a few years back very foolishly. It was the worst 2 days ever. I have never experienced a headache like it in my life. I remember by lunchtime on the second day i had to have something. I ate the biggest bowl of green beans and it was like heaven. I thought it would be a good way to kick start weight loss but it was pretty grim. Just being honest.

No there is no forum for support but if you use the search function you will find plenty of other similar threads with feedback you may find helpful. As long as you find honest feedback about why any sort of cleanse is totally unnecessary, helpful that is.

There won't be any forum or groups for support for master cleanse because MFP doesn't allow promotion or support of unsafe methods. Master cleanse falls into that category.

Plus, no one has ever been able to provide an answer to exactly what is being cleansed, that the body doesn't do on its own.

Your body doesn't need a reset or a jump start. If you feel like you need one psychologically, stock up on fresh veggies and lean proteins and go with those (plus a few fruits). But even then, don't drop calories too drastically, that almost always backfires!

I also foolishly did this with a friend several years ago also. Lasted a full 3 days. By the end, I was starving, had no energy, grumpy and was ready to eat anything I could find. I'm feeling much better with my weighloss now going slow and steady with trying to eat a good amount of nutritious foods. I don't feel deprived and my body is energized. I honestly can't think of one positive that came out of it.

Don't bother doing this. You'll lose nothing but a bunch of water weight initially. Basically anyone starting a calorie deficit can do the same the first week.

So let's say you follow the directions.. Each serving of 2 tbsp lemon juice, 2 tbsp maple syrup, and .1 tsp of cayenne pepper contains: 114 calories, 30g carbs, 0g fat, 0g protein, 4mg sodium, and 25g of sugar. Three servings of this in a day will net you 342 calories, 90g of carbs, no fat, no protein, nearly no sodium and 75g of sugar.

Reckless and irresponsible. That and you'll FEEL underfed, and will over do it on calories once you allow yourself to eat again.

I had a good cleanse in May 2015 for routine medical reasons....a colonoscopy. Made me "clean as a whistle". Can't wait to do it again in 3 years...not...but better than the alternative.

Heavens no. That sounds awful. You can't "jump start" weight loss.

I gave my cat the Dr. Oz Peep Cleanse. He was 14 and at death's door. My vet said, "Sure, why not," when I asked if it was appropriate for my Mr. Raspberry Jam. He went on to live for 23 more years, so it's definitely good stuff.

I love that bearded wonder-man, @tincanonastring, I came into this thread hoping to see more of his cleanse wisdom. I am disappointed :( he has not been here.

Forget this and just get started with MFP as recommended.
You'll find lots of support for steady, safe and lasting results.

    Good Luck!

I wouldn't recommend the Master Cleanse.

However - I would recommend the caloric deficit to lose weight... it's pretty important y'know?

Nope. Eat at a calorie deficit - get some movement in. Stop looking for ridiculous nonsense to make you magically thin.

There was a great post in an unfortunately deleted thread made by a guy who tried it and on the night of day 2, woke up uncontrollably spraying poop all over himself, his bed, and his girlfriend.

If that doesn't give you a heads-up, nothing will.

Master cleanse... unless this is someone coming to do a superduper great job of cleaning your bedroom, just don't do it.

Although if that's what you're gonna do, then that's ok. Master cleanse for dieting? No.

Why not just take a bunch of laxatives and diuretics? Wouldn't this cleanse you? AND NO I AM NOT SERIOUS!!!! Count your calories and exercise - works every time.

I actually just got done doing the master cleanse... 14 days! It was incredible! I'm 6 days post have gained only 1 of the 12 lbs I lost. I thought I would gain more water weight back but I have been eating an 80/10/10 diets which has been helping me tremendously.

In case anyone stumbles across this thread and thinks it's a good idea, just don't. Even setting aside uncontrollable poop spraying, eating 342 calories, 90g of carbs, no fat, no protein, nearly no sodium and 75g of sugar each and every day is not how you fuel a body you care about. If you're looking to lose lean body mass, it's a fantastic plan. Not many people are looking to debulk though.

Truth. I would not let my husband do a cleanse, ever.

Most (if not all) cleanses are a load of bunk and can be potentially dangerous.
