Hello all,

I was wondering if any of you knew if it is okay to enter my total daily steps, even if the steps are not from actually working out? I keep my phone with/on me pretty much all day and the app that I have on my phone counts every step I make, which actually gets me a pretty decent amount of burned calories daily.

Thanks in advance,
Angella

I don't count every step I take. For example, I don't count every time I get up to get myself a coffee or tea at work. I don't count grocery shopping. I don't count doing housework.

But I do count my walk to the bus in the morning and after work. I do count the brisk walks I do at lunch. And I do count any after work walks I might do.

For what its worth, I count all steps, they are automatically transferred from my I-Phone to MFP and counted as extra calories earned. I try to keep my gross calories consumed below my assigned goal, succeeding often. The earned calories act as a cushion or bonus weight loss, I hope. I keep my phone with me during my runs. It counts the steps during my run so I'm pretty sure that I am under counting my running calories. BUT the only true arbitor of my efforts in the scale. Two pounds in the first week. We'll see.

    1. Did you check the Apps tab to see if you can sync your app with MFP? http://www.myfitnesspal.com/apps

    2. Read this article in the Help section:
