FTA: "Cisna asked his students to plan his daily menus, with the condition that he could not eat more than 2,000 calories a day and had to stay within the FDA's recommended daily allowances for fat, sugar, protein, carbohydrates and other nutrients."
He also started walking 45 minutes 4-5 times per week.
We all know that CICO works, so this shouldn't be a surprise that if he ate less than 2000 calories per day, and he built a deficit with exercise, he would lose weight. I would love to see an MFP log of what these meals his students built for him looked like.

I wonder if I can Mickey D to sponsor me for the Ironman...they give me free food and a Tri bike, and I eat nothing but McDonalds and finish in the top 1/3.

Yeah.. Nothing screams AW like signing a contract to be a "brand ambassador" and making a documentary..
@IsaackGMOON he said his cholesterol dropped from 249 to 170 in the first 90 days, which was why he continued. I get what you're saying though. Even if you can make your macros, can you really make your micros with this too?0 -

and you can order just grilled chicken breasts too...it's flipping easy to eat a healthy diet based entirely on McDonald's food.
Everyone stereotypes the food, but decent choices CAN be made. You just won't be ordering the typical menu items without substitutions or things like no dressing on salads that often to be able to do it.

Note the 'and other nutrients' part in the article. Base has been already covered.
That being said, I dropped a lot of the weight I needed to lose while working food service and eating plenty of the merchandise while biking. It really is a numbers game.0 -
I'd love to see a blood panel on him, and I'm very curious about if there were any changes to his GI microflora, issues w/ constipation, and any markers for increase risk of colon cancer, CVD, stroke, bone density, and body mass distribution?
Wonder how he got his fiber recommendation in 35gm on McDonalds even all salads has to be a feat?0 -

This. And for his students to stay in the 2,000 calories they probably were forced into choosing 1 bad-ish thing and the rest mostly good things. ie, if one sandwich was 900 calories, they couldn't have him eat one for lunch and dinner and still leave room for breakfast and snacks. They couldn't do tons of soda. (Although, I guess it doesn't SAY they had to give him 3 meals, I'm just assuming.)
(He also required they stay under recommended limits for fat and sugar and sodium - and I guess everything else, but if you HAVE to make choices to stay under 2,000 calories and certain fat and sugar, the choices probably weren't all that bad)0 -
I want to see the menu as well, mostly to see which items were repeated, how many tweaks were made to the various items, and how the cost compared to the standard offerings and prices. I wonder how well the project would fare if he had requirements like having to eat food in the sizes presented, or being limited to a certain amount of money each day. Not discrediting what he did, just curious about whether this knowledge can feasibly be applied to the gen pop.0

If you're thinking about Gwyneth Paltrow she couldn't even make it a week!0 -

Why would you want to apply it to the general population? It's just a small experiment showing that cico works, not a recommendation.0 -
