When you don't have before your "before."

Most of you probably clicked this to figure out what the title meant, lol! Well basically I see a lot of people that are working to get back to some point in their life where they were slimmer/fitter, be that in highschool, college or before you had your first kid. Regardless you have a point of reference for how you will feel or look at your goal weight. I don't have that, I've always been overweight. The lowest I can remember weighing was 220, when I was 15 or 16. I don't really have any idea what I will look or feel like when I get to my goal. So for those of you who can understand and are still working at it, what are your thoughts/emotions about this? For those who have achieved your goals, was it everything you hoped it would be? How does it feel?

I've wondered this too, I've never been thin, except as a child, and I can't really even imagine what I could look like as a thin adult. I think it's pretty fun though it's like doing a puzzle without knowing what the picture is, I could look so many different ways! I think in some ways it's better than trying to get back to where you were because that way you are going to look like a previous version of yourself but this way you get to discover a new version of yourself. Just some of my musings lol :)

I've got a few clients who have asked me the same question...I wish I had a perfect answer. But what I will ay is this, there doesn't have to be a before for you to make a change. I tell my clients to stick to what they need to do and watch there body change, and enjoy the changes they see! In some ways, its better not to have a before...it makes the journey more exciting! Feel free to ad me if you would like to chat or would like some motivation!

Before I lost the weight, the last time I was in my 120s was when I was in my 20s-before 3 children, breastfeeding and many years gone by.
I remembered my body in my 20s but I also knew that my body in my 50s and 60s would be a whole other animal!
    And yet.....
And yet, I love it anyway!
Yeah, the skin is saggy and the belly has a kangaroo pouch, but still, I love it cause it represents everything I've been through in my life, good and not so good.
I feel healthy, look healthy and I am healthy and I look fine for a 61 year old so I'm pleased and proud that I lost the weight and became fit in the process.
All I want is to keep active and enjoy my family and friends and I feel I'm accomplishing these goals.

No "before" for me either. Getting to my goal was exciting, but there were of course some elements of letdown to it as well. Staying there was and is hard. I'm still not entirely used to the "new me".

I never had a before, either (I was about 200 at 16 and 270 at 18). But I can say that I'm in better condition now at 380 than I was at 200. And I have no idea what I'm going to look like after I drop the body fat - I'm aiming to be comfortably lean at about 300 lbs, and so I look at people who are about that size who are about that level of build (some wrestlers, Hafthor Bjornnson) and try to imagine that build on my body. Might not be what will be, but it's fun and inspiring to think of that's what I *could* be.

It's definitely an adventure! I feel like one of those paleontologists; chipping away at stone and brushing dust away to see what's hidden underneath. Lol.
