Today I did Ab Ripper X (p90x) and I could not feel the burn at all while doing the ab exercises. I'm not sure why... Does this mean the exercises are inneffective?

It could mean that you weren't engaging the muscles and that you were using other muscles instead.

You do not have to "feel the burn" or be sore after a workout for it to be effective.

I notice the burn usually occurs 1-2 days after. For me though burn isn't how I gauge effectiveness, it's a gauge of lactic acid build-up in your muscles, effectiveness would be measured by weight loss, bigger muscles, leaner look, etc. Also, like usmcmp said "you may be using other muscles instead" I'm not familiar with the ab exercises in p90x, but crunches aren't very effective (they target your hip flexors) and I'm sure you already know that abs are made in the kitchen not the gym!

It's a 15 minute program, so no doubt you engaged your abs at some point. I'm going with the "burn doesn't mean effective" explanation. :+1:
