If you have a hard time finding low-sodium (believe it or not, I find them at bargain stores like big lots), rinsing them in a strainer helps wash off at least some of the excess salt.

I used to do this until low-sodium vegetables became more widespread. The no salt added varieties often have 10-35 mgs of sodium per serving.

I always have at least a few cans of vegetables because I have the world's tiniest freezer and don't usually have more than a bag or two of vegetables on hand.

When logging canned vegetables, bear in mind that the serving size includes liquid. I use entries like "Carrots, cooked, no salt" and log the grams of the drained vegetables.

And tinned beetroot - I eat that too.

    Also cold on salad plates.

I have a thing for canned baby potatoes in potato salad. I just love the texture. Otherwise I'm the same as you. Corn, beetroot, tomatoes and legumes.

But OP - eat them! They're veg, just preserved in a different way

You can get potatoes in a can? Looking for them tonight.

    Grocery store didn't have them!

Yes you can eat them. The reason I avoid canned foods as much as possible is because of the added salt and the BPA lining of the cans.

The reason I avoid them (other than canned tomatoes) is that I hate them, and my mother convinced me I hated various vegetables (especially green beans) by using them too much when I was growing up, and now I've learned that they are actually quite tasty.

However, if someone prefers canned vegetables and that's how they will eat vegetables, I say go for it!

Boo! They're quite odd, but awesome:

Amazing. I have some left over from when the grocery store had them on sale before the holidays. Personally, I only like them in soups/stews. But I have weird texture issues that you probably don't have.

I just hate using the oven and don't feel like cooking them on the stove. I'd be interested in trying them for an easy potato salad, or to just put in my salad maybe with tuna or something.

You can get salt free corn, green beans, peas, carrots, potatoes all in a can. I get them for my dog.

And yes, of course you can have canned vegetables. Canned green beans are awesome, so little calories. And no you don't have to heat them up. I eat green beans just drained and dumped in a bowl. I don't like frozen green beans. I like fresh though if cooked right.

I think you could come pretty close to the taste and texture by simmering small peeled new potatoes in well salt water with 1 or 2 tablespoons of vinegar. For a long time.

I would like to know if I can eat canned vegetables or single servings in order to lose weight? I can't stand the fresh kinds so I'm not really eating enough. Please help!

Yes. You can eat whatever you like as long as it fits your calorie goal and lose weight.
You might want low sodium versions.
