    Connect your accounts at http://www.myfitnesspal.com/fitbit

Set your goal to .5 lb. for every 25 lbs. you're overweight: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/change_goals_guided

    Enable negative calorie adjustments: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings

In the MFP app, go to More > Steps and choose Fitbit.

Ignore your Fitbit calorie goal and follow MFP's, eating back your adjustments. No need to log any step-based activity—your Fitbit is tracking it for you. Log non-step exercise (like swimming or biking) either in Fitbit or in MFP—never both. Exercise logged in MFP overwrites your Fitbit burn during that time.

You can learn more in the Fitbit Users group: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1290-fitbit-users

Go to other websites to cross check your BMR and TDEE. with what fitbit and MFP tell you.. MOST calculators over estimate calorie burn,

    http://www.calculator.net/bmr-calculator.html

    also
    Mifflin St. Jeor Equation

    For men: BMR = 10 x weight (kg) + 6.25 x height (cm) – 5 x age (years) + 5
    For women: BMR = 10 x weight (kg) + 6.25 x height (cm) – 5 x age (years) – 161

    http://dailyburn.com/life/health/how-to-calculate-bmr/

Take an average from multiple sources for your TDEE, and eat 300-500 calories less..
I use MFP simply for tracking calories, I dont use its TDEE goal, or eat back exercise

Why overcomicate things? The easiest way to gauge the accuracy of your Fitbit TDEE is to trust it for several weeks, then reevaluate your progress.

Using the settings I explained above (and logging exercise in Fitbit rather than MFP), I logged everything I eat & drink accurately & honestly, lost the weight, and have kept it off for more than a year.
