Feeling Hopeless

Hi, I'm not sure if anyone will read this or not but I figured to give it a try nonetheless.

So, I've recently have had some HUGE changes in my life within the last year (very exciting and stressful to say the least), yet I am finding that I am frequently doubting my choices, my abilities and my overall self - sometimes I don't even know I'm doing or where I'm going in life. And after several months of denial, I finally have accepted the fact that I've gained quite a bit of weight (about 30lbs!!!) in the last year and think that one cause of my lack in confidence is a result of my low self-esteem in allowing so much weight to accumulate. I would love to just get back down to the weight I had been one year ago and hope that the comfort I find in my body will also help boast my confidence in other areas of my life and hopefully allow me to feel a little bit more in control. But at the moment, my weight (and the task of attempting to lose some of it) seems so impossibly overwhelming that I'm already feeling defeated and hopeless - can anyone please help me dig myself out of this hole of self-doubt and despair so I can finally begin my weightloss/keep on track with it?

Well, thanks all for listening...

    Baby steps.

Start by logging all of your food and drink intake without making any changes. Weight your solid foods on a food scale for increased accuracy. Be honest and record everything.

Once you see what you are eating and drinking, you can start making small changes and taking more control over what you consume. Don't overwhelm yourself. The goal is to avoid feeling deprived.

    You can do this!

You've already taken one huge step by putting your fears and doubts into words. It's not just spinning around in your head like a private demon any more: it's "out there"-- where you can see it, kick the tires, own it, let it go.

Good for you!!! Be proud of yourself for being courageous enough to get it out there!

Seska422 is right: next baby step is to log honestly--no judgement. Then, when you're ready you can take the next baby step and start making changes.

I was at my goal weight a year ago and stopped coming to MFP. After all, I was there, I'd done it. Well, here I am again a year later and two months into it, after starting over. I gained all my weight back and some in 4 months.

It's slow going since I've decided to go slowly and read the boards and figure out what people with a long track record of success did. I've been humbled by the success stories folder. Hang in there and read all you can in the boards. We're all here for each other, be it with binging, with alcohol or with motivational needs.

Keep your head up! We've all been there, where the goal seems way out of reach. Perhaps a change in perspective-focusing on your logging day by day instead of worrying about how far you have to go- will help.

I have been where you are...more than once. What I have found is there are times in my life I can really only deal with one extra thing in a day. So far a day I will log my food. If you do that thing for two weeks it will become a habit. Then you can choose the next thing. Everything is doable. Maybe not on the same schedule as someone else. Maybe not on the schedule that you used to be capable of. But you can do this. Feel free to add me

We all been there. My low self esteem and slacking costed me 50 lbs. You just have to try again, fail again, fail better, that's my new motto. I am not obsessed on losing the 50 lbs. that I gained back anymore, now I am am more concentrated in changing my lifestyle for the long run. Good luck...

Eliminate all bread, white pasta, dairy products and soda, and junk food. I gurantee you amazing results in weeks not months.
