getting back to maintenance weight

Hi there,
So I was doing so well: having got down to under 72kg in early June I had stayed there for six weeks - and then a few weeks of good eating at conferences and on holiday (too many three-course meals! - that is what does it for me...) put me back up to between 73kg and 74kg, where I haven't been since back in April. I guess I know what I have to do, but so far those additional 2kgs really don't want to shift. So I am logging again and, and back to my swimming routine, and hoping that I can shift them and get back to maintance weight (between 70kg and 72kg) in the next few weeks. I might see if I can really hit 70kg this autumn!
I guess this has happened to others too, so any hints for shifting those holiday ponds gratefully received!
I am 5'11", 180cm, so this is still a healthy weight for me. I would just prefer it to be a bit less!

I'm just like you, have put on a few pounds over the holidays, and now need to go back to logging etc to lose them....grrr...0

just get back to a small deficit and it'll go0

I typically gain at a rate of a pound a day when away on vacation/holiday.
Half is just temporary bloating which goes within a few days of returning to my normal routine.
The other half I lose by either a big deficit for a short time or a small deficit for a long time. Either method works fine. Just a normal "bump in the road" of life in maintenance.0 -
When on holiday most of us gain a little, its just a matter of getting back on track again and accurately counting those cals...those few kilos gained will be history in no time if you do, so don't beat yourself up about it, just take action
I have found that even when on holidays now I still watch my portion sizes and keep active, this always stops me from gaining.0 -

Once, I missed one workout which turned me into a whole week remain away from the gym. After that, my momentum to start over again was gone. Then, my weight raises from 77kg to 80kg.0

Well for me maintenance always involves cutting at some point.0
