I didn't know people still did pilates so I'm going to go with yoga.0

I do mat Pilates 2-3 times a week and much prefer it to yoga. There are different kinds of yoga, of course, but I find mat Pilates more of a strength workout than yoga.0

Yeah, OP what are your goals and what is drawing you to pilates/yoga?0

I don't know much about Pilates except that it concentrates on strength, especially your core. I go to a beginner's yoga class twice a week and it has kind of turned into a mental health boost along with the mobility and strength components.
I will say that, although I got stronger over time with just yoga, my strength was hugely boosted once I started a strength training program (go figure). I think it's a great add-in for mobility and balance. I love it.
Are you having to choose between studios? If you're at a gym that offers classes, take both! You'll figure out which one you like the best. That will be the right one for you because you'll want to go.0 -
Pilates will strengthen your core. I feel absolutely ridiculous doing most of the exercises. They're just so wrong. It's pretty tough though.
Yoga works on flexibility. I pretty much hate it. I stuck at it. I spend every second hating it. And I can't even begin to get in touch with my inner tree or that nonsense because I'm too busy being angry and bitter that I stuck at it.
I do not go to either enough but I really should. I think they both have great benefits.0 -
