want to do HIIT on treadmill but have sore knee

Hi all,

I've been really getting into the HIIT on the treadmill recently but my knee has started feeling a bit sore. I want to give it a rest for a week, but don't want to stop the HIIT. I do HIIT 2-3 times a week for 3 x 10 minute sessions so am not overdoing it.

What is a good machine to use at the gym for HIIT that won't put much stress/strain on my knee.

I was thinking the elliptical might be the way to go?

    Maybe try a bike?

I find that it is totally different on the knees than running.

I have knee problems and a bike is perfect for avoiding impact. You can play around with it but I found that I had to stay seated as when I was up out of the saddle it put more strain on my knees. A bike is a much better option than a treadmill for HIIT anyway. I've found that it's almost impossible to do propper HIIT on a treadmill because of the time it takes to get up to speed/slow down.

+1 for bike, or running on a proper track surface.

Alternative would be to do some fast laps via swimming.

I had a knee injury a couple of years ago, and I find the elliptical is the best cardio machine for me.
