I don't really know what I want to get out of this post, but I just know I really wanted to post it. I have been using mfp for a year now and I haven't even lost half of the weight I want to. I lost 40 pounds in a year, and this seems to depress me more than make me happy. I journal as often as I can to help get through the emotions, but I just don't feel as far along as I should have been at this point.
I still can't do all the things in group fitness everyone can even though I've been busting my butt for a year, and they just joined last week. I still don't like to wear shorts because
my legs look huge. I can't even fit into this dress I used to wear at 20 lbs higher than I am right now. I know I've lost weight, but I can't even really see it in mirror or picture.
Some days I think I look good and then a wrong glance in a mirror or comparing myself to somebody and I'm done for the week feeling good about myself. I work out so stinking much, and this is all I have to show for it? I have the belly of a c-section mom and I've never been pregnant, so how many stupid crunches or hours on the elliptical will make it go away?! Will I ever look like a normal person? Why do I even care what I look like since everyone will always remember how bad you used to look, so you're already at a disadvantage. These are the things I think on a daily basis.
I have no plans to quit, and I'm not asking for advice. I guess what I wanted to say is that if you are in this same boat be proud of yourself! You are awesome and are more on track to being healthy than you were one year ago. You also look super hot, and just think you'll be double hot by next year! Just remember a few years is just a blip in the life of a happy, healthy person. Please don't compare yourselves to others, your past self, or your future self. Embrace who you are right now and love living life! Please keep at it slow losers and know you're not alone!
Feel free to share your story and feelings, and we can commiserate/celebrate together!

I am also very slow as losing. It has taken me about 3 years to lose 100lbs, going from 250lbs to 150. I am now at 147...so I am still going!
It helps to really focus on this being a life-long thing, so it really doesnt matter how long it takes because I will be doing this basically for the rest of my life. BONUS! After 3 years, the new behaviors have really sunk in...I dont think I would be able to go back to how I was with everything I know now and how long I have been at this for.
Oh yeah - also a slower loss = potentially less loose skin to deal with afterwards.0 -
Many of us are slow to lose. 24 pounds a year is really fast enough. 40 pounds in one year is a huge success. Try to maintain it for a year.
Google some like lose inches instead of pounds. If the scales are going down and yet gaining in inches something seems out of kelter.0
