How are the Aria Fitbit Scales?

How is the Fitbit aria scales? I bought them a couple of weeks ago. I'm a bit confused by them to be honest. I've set them up correctly but according to them I weigh a pound more than my old scales this past week!

I weighed myself with my old scales today and it's showing I've lost about a pound since a week ago so it's basically showing my lowest I e ever been since eating better. If I use Aria Fitbit scales today it's showing no change and I weigh the same as a week ago. I weighed myself at the same time with both after I had a shower.

Also how accurate is body fat measurement on Aria?

The weight thing is just that the scales are calibrated differently. If you had the scale last week, you would have weighed 1 lb heavier compared to your other scale then too.

I don't know if it's accurate for BF%, but I'm able to see a trend with mine. However all BF% scales have a higher margin of error than other methods.
  • Yep, different scales equal different weights. I think the fitbit scale put my weight at 3 pounds more than my old scale. But, it's just a number to use to measure progress. I found the fitbit scale to be more likely to give me the same weight if I move the scale around the room, whereas with my old digital scale, if I moved the scale to a certain spot in the bathroom, I weighed 10 lbs less. I also find it to consistently give me the same weight if I step off and step back on again. Where my other scale, depending on where I put my feet on it, I could make my numbers change.

As for bodyfat, like previous poster said, I don't think they hare very accurate, but, are good for seeing progress or lack there of.

No two scales are ever calibrated the same. Own your "new" weight, and look for a downward trend going forward.

I've had a Fitbit Aria wifi scale for two years, and the bodyfat percentage is useless. It sends a pulse up one leg and down the other, then guesstimates your upper body. And it gets thrown off by how hydrated you are.

I weigh daily (love never having to log it!) and sync with Trendweight.com (it's free) to see the trend without the "noise" of water weight. If you weigh daily, please do your friends a favor & change your settings to stop posting your weight to your feed: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/news_feed_settings
