Calorie Intake Issues, Insanity

Hey,

As you have guessed from the topic I have started Insanity. However rather than asking my question straight off I'm goign to start with a bit of a rant.
My parents and I want me to loose weight, look slim, fit into clothes etc. as I am very overweight, and as many people can relate I feel like I've lost out on a lot of my life being overweight (and a lil on the ugly side hehe) and thus having a low self-confidence. So now I want to do something about it, seriously.

I started looking into nutrition and realised that I should be taking 1,800calories a day. Which is fair enough if it's what my body will need. However, my mother heard Joanna Lumley say on TV something to the effect that people became fat because they eat too much and they should just eat less, so when I do want to eat more my parents don't believe that I want to prevent my body from going into starvation mode

My parents are great, they don't deny me anything, but I am concerned that with the idea that "1000calories" is more than enough" I wont actually achieve any results

How old are you? Unless you are a child, do what you think is best for you.

Your parents will want what is best for you for sure however you need to do what YOU think is best for YOU.

Research BMR and TDEE and eat between that. Fill the calories with good food that is not processed, canned or frozen. Eat well and exercise and you will lose weight.
