I can't afford a Heart Rate Monitor at this time. I do have HR app on my phone. I was wondering how accurate wold it be taking your HR immediately after your workout? Just curious.

The heart rate falls rapidly after activity ceases, by up to half within a few min for most people, the healthier your heart the faster it falls, for a good estimate during steady state cardio try taking the pulse whilst still moving.
Following the effort rate measurement may be of more use to you , this is easier to judge as it is based on oxygen requirement for your activity

No, it isn't accurate for caloric estimation. A single snapshot of your HR is just that... a snapshot that fails to show what your HR was during activity. Taking your pulse when you stop exercising and again a couple minutes later can give you insight to your cardiac recovery.

HR for determining caloric burn is only near accurate for a limited number of steady state activities. The marketing overstates the capabilities and applicability of determining caloric burn.
