TERRIFIED of gaining the weight back

I recently lost 21.5 lbs and am over halfway to my goal weight but I am terrified of possibly gaining the weight back. I am pretty consumed with thoughts about possibly gaining back the 21.5 lbs. Has anyone else dealt with this? How did you get over your fear of gaining back the weight?

If you are terrified then you are not doing it right. This a lifestyle of eating not a diet. Hitting maintenance should be a soft landing, so to speak.
Congrats on your weight loss so far, however.0 -
You must have had a fairly good life up to now, if you consider gaining a little weight to be a thing to feel terror over. If you gain some weight back, you will learn from your mistakes and lose it again. In the great scheme of things it really isn't worth loosing sleep over much less being terrified of.0

Like happycampr said, if you go back to your old ways, then you will regain the weight, if you stay on the path you're on now, you won't.
It's totally in your hands, you have 100% control over what will happen.0 -
There is no need for you to be consumed with such negative thoughts. You have shown yourself that you can successfully lose weight - I will assume through using this app. and counting calories to get to this point in your overall weight loss.
Like others have said keep your head in the game, as you get closer to goal remember that your loses will slow down, employ the skills of patience and keep committed to this, because you know CI-CO works. When you reach your goal, use the idea that Happycampr1 has given, slowly increase your calories till you stop losing, keep a close eye on your weight and increase or decrease as necessary, rinse and repeat.
Maintenance is no different that losing.....you still have to keep your eye on the numbers ball. Keep logging, for the rest of your life if necessary. Maintenance is still a numbers game and having those stats in front of you could be very reassuring given your state of anxiety. As Christine has pointed out just like losing, control over maintaining is 100% in your hands and doable.

^^^ A little help goes a long way
You have been very successful and by the way congrats on your loss. So you can definitely do the maintenance thing. Give yourself a range of weight that you are comfy with ie 3-5lbs of goal, natural fluctuations, TOM, water retention due to a higher sodium meal etc etc all contribute to these bouncing numbers but as long as you are on point within your target range, can account for the above and not continually increasing or losing then you are in the sweet zone.
I speak from experience and have been maintaining for almost 3 years after a lose of nearly 170 lbs......0 -
I understand that feeling. Some times I think I'll step on the scale and see my old weight (impossible)! After vacation, I swore I was back up to 155 and I'm 135 and was well in control of my eating on vacation.
I think it just takes a while to trust ourselves. Being aware of my food intake and keeping my new healthy habits foremost in my mind will have to be a lifelong thing for me!0 -
Well...I log my food. With this app.0
