E cigarettes?

Also, if it's a bar that doesn't allow smoking they may not allow e-cigarettes either. I have seen signs at places that state no smoking and no e-cigs.0

The Blue brand sucks. Look into one of the kinds that have attachment that you can change out yourself. The ones that look similar to this are the closest to a real cigarette in my opinion
I've been vaping for 4 years. Helped me quit 2 of the years, cut back since.
This below is an ego, and what the above posters have recommended. It is 100% suggested over the other brands. Everyone has their favorite brand of liquids though. I buy local from elixir liquid, but they have an online store. But yeah. Get an Ego Single Twist V2 650. Its rather cheap, small and of high quality.
510 is the threading. Think like.. the teeth of the bolts and what not. Theres a 901 threading that is common in disposable and lesser quality products. Haven't seen a good 901.
510 mini's are the little ecigs that look like cigarettes. They are nice, but they have a few issues. A) Short battery life. If you get a 510 mini, get 2 or 3 of them, or you'll be vaping 3 hours, then breaking 3 hours for it to charge. They have a this automatic system that sometimes goes off in your pocket... creating heavy burn and screwing up a atomizer/cartomizer/tankaomizer (Different delivery and storage system for the ecig). C) They just aren't strong. You don't get a good flavor, or sensation of nicotine.
The parts are essentially...
Battery (Like the ego)
Atomizer/Cartomizer/Tankaomizer (Different delivery and storage system for the ecig)
Ejuice. (A billion of flavors out there. You think of it, it can exist or already exist)
This is an atomizer and cartridge setup. Its not as popular anymore. People use tankomizers mostly from what I've seen lately.
One of the issues though is that it may not be right for you. The less nicotine the less throat hit. Without the throat hit it just kind of.. feels like you are inhaling perfume. So it'd continue your nicotine addiction.. so it seems counter intuitive if your intent is to stay quit. Now, if your intent is to just not smell as bad and annoy your boyfriend, get one of those, get it with 24-36 mg of nioctine. Just enjoy it. I will say they don't taste like cigarettes. I started with 555 for my ejuice flavor. It was like tobacco, some kind of wood, and peanutbutter together. Was good, and it led me to do all the sweet flavors instead of tobacco.
/thread
Really though, I highly recommend this setup:
eGo-C Twist Variable Voltage 650mAh Battery
eGo Rapid USB Charger
Kanger EVOD eGo Clearomizer
Atomizer Head for Kanger EVOD (You'll want an extra or two to replace the one that comes with the clearomizer when it goes out. But if you're only using it for social drinking, you seriously shouldn't need to replace it more than every few months at most)
You can google those exactly and find them online to order. Or if you're looking for something a little cheaper (the above is probably $50 or $60 total) you can get a starter kit with the 510 threading. I'm not familiar with any of those so I can't make a recommendation.
Then google e-liquid and order some. Vapedudes has good liquid. I'm not a fan of throat hit at all, and I quit smoking over 5 years ago, so I don't want to be addicted to nicotine again, so I just make my own nic free juice, but you can buy nic free juice. If there's an e-cig shop near you, definitely go in and sample some flavors and see whether or not you want a throat hit (more nic = more throat hit) and what flavors you like. All of my friends are crazy for Bavarian Cream, but I think it's disgusting, along with every other dessert flavor I've tried. I'm a fan of minty flavors (NOT menthol) that taste like Spearmint gum, and any fruit flavors.
Like I said, I quit smoking 5+ years ago, but DH just quit about a year ago when some friends turned him onto vaping. Now all of our friends vape. I only do it socially. Not necessarily when I drink - just when I'm around others who are vaping. And if you think you'll be satisfied with no throat hit, I'd highly recommend trying a juice without nicotine so you don't get hooked again if you decide you want to vape more than just while drinking. Good luck!0 -
Boy, the judgmental are quick on the scene!
I know plenty of people who only smoke when they drink.
"Respect your boyfriend and don't smoke." Wow.... that blows my mind. I think you should also respect all his other wishes and become exactly what he wants you to be, not who you are. *rolling my eyes* You said YOU don't like it when you smoke while drinking either, so forget what his thoughts are... smoking isn't something you are doing to hurt him. Good grief.
I haven't tried the e-cigs. After weeding through all the criticizing nonsense, I did see a few great posts with suggestions. I just quit smoking yesterday. I worry about doing the same as you -- smoking while drinking. I don't think it will bother me, as I don't party often anymore, but I'm not sure if it would bother me as much as you. That being said, if I only smoked when I drank, it would have been a problem during my early 20s :drinker: :smokin:0 -
Also, how is anyone sposed to take you seriously when your on a Health and Fitness site double fisting huge brews.
Grow up.
Go buy the dang E-Cig trade one addiction for another and continue drinking, that's always the answer isn't it?
Huge brews rock and are a part of good livin'....you can actually be healthy and fit and double fist huge brews...yes, it is possible.
OP...I quit smoking and used an e-cig to do so. I still use my ecig on occasion, but I'm at zero nicotine so not often these days. I use a joyetech EGO Twist most of the time, but when I was vaping a lot, I used the joyetech 510-T when I was out and about. There are other knock off brands and I've tried a couple, but the real joyetech is the way to go IMHO...much better product than the generic knock offs.0 -
I don't see anything wrong with you drinking either. As long as its an occassional thing. Everything in moderation. I too crave ciggarettes when I'm drinking, but I only drink a handful of times out of the year. I have been struggling quitting smoking for years so the problem definitely isn't the alcohol.
I don't know much about the e-Cigs. I popped in here to read the comments. But I think you should try it. I hope you come back and update this thread when you do. I would love to know how this works out for you.
Sure, nothing wrong with drinking...
...*unless* it makes you make decisions you wouldn't otherwise make.
That's where it becomes a problem...and that's what you're doing, so I agree with the advice to stop doing something that impairs your judgment to the point that you make what you know are bad decisions for yourself.0 -
Wow - a bunch of people know what's best for you!
I smoked for 30 years, quit using a EGoT - still use in fact - I enjoy it.
I told my dad it worked, he had smoked for 50 years, it worked for him - he still uses it and enjoys it
My best friend used it as well - worked for him.
It does not cost that much to try (compared to cigs anyway) - Good Luck!0 -
But seriously...anyone have any actual advice...like about the topic I posted?
That was useful, relevant advice. If you can't control your behavior while drinking, you should consider drinking less.
naa not really. she asked about e cigarettes, not weather she should stop drinking because it makes her smoke.
you are off topic. woooip forum guideline violation! wooip forum guideline violation!0 -

so everyone who smokes a cigarette on a night out after a few drinks has a problem with alcohol?
its a cigarette, not adultery or driving drunk. man. this makes my head hurt.0 -
to me it sounds like theres too many people in here who just got started and think you need to stop everything to loose weight.
news flash, you don't.
for those of you in the "booze is bad" camp, thats not what she asked.

Yeah, that's a legit point.
I guess everyone has their own line when it comes to deciding whether or not it's a problem for them. Was probably a little unfair for me to impose where I think the line maybe should be on OP and others.0 -

No, of course not. Don't be silly.

Don't you ever change, jof!0 -
Hmm...all of the pics posted look like pipes, as in the type you could get pulled over for.
I saw a lady with one that looked like a cigarette, so much so in fact that the restaurant made her put it away. I'm certain no smoke came from the tip but she didn't have it out long enough to see what happened to what she inhaled.
I understand what you're saying because I don't enjoy coffee or alcohol without a cigarette. If you only smoke occasionally then I don't think you have a nicotine addiction so it sounds like one of these should satisfy you I guess as long as you get that hit at the back of throat like one of the posters mentioned...and it would be a decent compromise with your boyfriend.0 -
I have a Joye 510 and I love it! Got me off cigarettes and feeling better than ever, and you can also get nicotine-free liquid for these if you only crave the action/habit of it. I tend toward the sweet fruity flavors with it and just that can get me through a dessert craving too.
My doctor, dentist, husband, family, and myself are all thrilled about it so I could care less what the haters have to say about it! Your boyfriend should be happy, it won't cause cancer and you won't stink!0 -
am very curious about these and appreciate those who have responded with info but a lot of my questions havent been addressed
how come no one ever compares their e-cig to a certain brand or flavor of cigarette? a marlboro red is very different from a parliament and what if you are a menthol smoker, these are very different in flavor/ feel etc, so are there certain brands that are more comparable than others?
for those that have switched to and or enjoyed the e-cig, did you have a brand that you smoked before? i know some people are very particular and some arent so particular and can bum a cigarette from most anyone.
thanks in advance.0 -
I was a faithful Marlboro smoker, and my father smoked the same unfiltered Camels for years. What both of us found, is there are so many different flavors (and your sense of taste comes back from the dead) that you find many different flavors to try. I use one that is supposed to be like a Marlboro, but I like it better with some mint (menthol) flavoring in it, even though I never smoked menthols.0

E cigarettes are hilarious. Wish I had thought of it first and marketed them. Might as well suck your thumb. At least it's free.0
-
My partner found them more addictive than ciggs. needless to say hes once again smoking. He is going to try & stop but this time with patches only x
He might also want to ask his doctor about Champix/(Chantix in the US) I quit at Easter using Champix and it was EASY! like really really really easy and nothing had ever worked before. I simply did not smoke anymore after my quit date. I used to smoke at least a pack a day (maybe sometimes a few cigs more) for about 18yrs and I was a big habitual smoker.
The Champix was like a miracle drug0 -
i recently quit although when i have a drink i like to smoke i use vip cigs... i get the stronge menthol filters although i used to smoke normal *kitten* the menthol taste so much better than the others0
-
It sounds like you enjoy the feel of a cigarette rather than the nicotine. Since you only smoke on occasion, try one of the small ones in non-nicotine. 510, Blu, something like that might be a good choice for you. Do be careful if you opt for the nicotine version, though. It's easy to get hooked again whether by cigarette or ecig.
I smoked for 30 years and it took an ecig to finally quit for good four years ago. I didn't miss the stink and dirty ashtrays at all. So, if you feel you really must smoke something while drinking, it's a far better choice than a cigarette.0 -
I used a "Njoy" last week and was able to refrain from smoking a real one for 5 days..... I was feeling really great, & even told my doctor.... Then I had a moment of weakness.... So I get to start over... I want to try th "FIN" brand next... So its not an issue for when I drink, I don't really drink at all.
I remember the "Bubble Gum" cigarettes, from when I was a kid...0 -
I am a smoker, period. I smoke with or without alcohol. I enjoy it. Bad to say, but I can admit it. I have wanted to quit for a while, health reasons and vanity. I purchased the Blu brand a couple of weeks ago and have not touch a real one since then. I am happy with it, not 100% satisfied, as I still crave a real cigarette from time to time, but cravings pass. It has helped with being moody, and it definitely has had a huge impact on my health in the short amount of time since I have switched. Many brands offer disposable options, so you can try them out and see what you like. I have tried xhale, njoy and blu. So far Blu is the winner, and I purchased the entire kit. Definitely saves on money in multiple ways, and no regrets the next A.M. Hope you find something that you like. Good luck. And don't pay attention to anyone that wants to talk down to you, you are asking for help, and that is all that matters, the will and want to better yourself. Just cause you are not doing it the way someone else would makes you no less of a person.0
