Hi everyone!

I'm new here and looking for some words of advice or any motivation or friends! I'm going to be running in my second 5k in October and I want to beat my time, but I have hardly done any running since my last (almost a year ago....). and I also want to start T25. I have the program, but no the nutrition guide. Anyways, Anyone have any advice for me? Or in the same boat??

Have a great week!

    Welcome!

I don't know what T25 is, but the best advice I can think of for your 5K goal is to start running...today (just ignore that rain out there). Just don't overdo it trying hurry your progress in order to reach your goal of a new PR. Depending on your current fitness level and when in October the race is, you may have enough time to reach your goal, but I'd start running right away, even before you have a training plan in place. Get on the road and see how you do and go from there.

Hi @7lenny7 - thanks for the advice. Tomorrow will be my day. Those first run (after a long break of not running...) suck. But you have to start somewhere. That bridge behind you looks awfully familiar. Stone Arch? Hello fellow Minnesotan!

I used the couch to 5k app and I finished T25! Now I'll alternate between running days and random T25/p90x3 vids. Three days a week I'll do a double workout, either run and video or two vids! I love the results.

@abens123, you have a sharp eye! That is indeed the Stone Arch Bridge. That was taken during the Torchlight 5K last month. I highly recommend that race next year. It's very well organized, there's a LOT of people along the road cheering you on for the first mile (the Torchlight parade is right after the race), it's a great course, some great end of race food, and a fun party with live music at the end. It's also fun to have an evening race. The only knock I have, and it's a small one, is that the shirt was 50% cotton so I don't like to wear it when I run.

If you're interested in a great running group with a lot of support and great advice, check out the current monthly running challenge thread:

All levels of runner are most welcome and you can jump in at any time. Just post with a short intro and your goal for the month (or the rest of the month), and check in as often as you wish to post your progress. Some update every day, some every run, or some just occasionally. These folks were very helpful and motivational when I first started running a few months ago.
