I joined MFP 2 months ago and am finding it really good in terms of tracking my food and the forums are great. I haven't starting an exercise routine yet and I'm thinking of buying the Fitbit Charge HR to make myself more aware and accountable to myself. Good idea or waste of €149??
I'm 39, 4 children from 6 yrs to 4 months, 8 weeks of maternity leave left- used to be active but now am tired- probably due to lack of exercise and have a million excuses not to fit in exercise into my busy days!

I have had the fitbit force for a year and a half and love it. I go out and run in the mornings and usually get my 10,000 steps vibration a couple of blocks from the house. It won't do anything for you that you can't do on your own but I like the motivation and it can "add" some exercise calories so I have some more room to eat. I use a running app for my running exercise but general activity like walking and chasing kids will add up and help motivate.0

I'm thinking it will help me to get going, in between pregnancies I have run and I love it for the headspace, just finding it harder to start this time round. Thanks for responding0

I had the Charge HR for a while and thought it was good as far as the pedometer feature went. The HR part was hit or miss depending on my activity. My resting HR is normally between 48-58 BPM. The Charge HR on more than a few times registered my HR at 80 BPM while I was relaxing and watching TV.... This could have been just a faulty device. I didn't try another one to test it. Devices like the Fitbit's are a good motivational tool for those who need it. It's not a waste of money if it works for your needs.0

Get one. ... I love mine . Used it after my knee replacement surgery to remind me to move more and more.0

I love mine. When I first got it, I had to adjust things manually for a while until I got it set up, but now that it is, it's so handy! I mostly just use it to keep track of my calories burned for the day so I can adjust, but I admit to feeling good when I get the buzzing that signifies 10k steps for the day. XD0

Love my Fitbit One, so I don't know about the Charge HR, but as far as the Fitbit in general, it does make me want to take more steps to raise the step count each day. There's also this Fitbit group here on MFP with posts about the Charge HR.0

I think that having to type information in shows me daily how expensive a cheeseburger is. So I will continue to do so manually.0

Thanks for all the responses, just thought of something- will Fitbit register my steps when I'm out walking with baby, my arm won't be swinging as it'll be on handle of pram?- apologies if that is a stupid question!0

Your step count is only a metric. I get "steps" drying my hair and miss steps pushing a shopping cart. All that matters is the accuracy of my burn—and I lost the weight & kept it off.
