Runners, I need your help!

Hi all :smile:, I am training to run a 10k in about 4 weeks time. At the moment I am having trouble with blisters on the inside of my feet. I have bought new shoes, new socks and tried kinesiology tape but they have only helped a little bit. Does anyone have any other tips? I am looking into some sort of lube as well.

    Bofy glide helps. The type of socks help too. I wear Wright socks and the work miracles! They are sort of doubled...

    Most of the time it's because your shoes don't fit you right. Maybe have a shoe specialist examine your foot strike and running style and that might help. Also take a couple days off until the blister heals a bit. Good luck with your 10k!

    Vaseline. I've got hot spots on the outsides of my big toes, but some dollops of vaseline and I'm good to go for long runs.

    This. Body Glide works too but vaseline is cheaper and I find it easier to apply.

    Thanks guys, really helpful. I would love to see a shoe specialist but I don't have the time (or money) at the moment to do that. I will try vaseline/other type of lubricant! :D

    Friction is caused by movement
    Movement is caused by a poor fit

    yeah- I went and bought some for my arch-I am not that impressed- should have just got the CVS grease LOL.

    My new sacuoneys are giving me small blisters- actually anything with any sort of padding and anything that "LOOKS" like an arch causes me feet to blister- (very flat shoes are no problem).

    If you want to get rid of blisters, make the time. Having someone fit you for shoes is free. The shoes aren't obviously, but the fitting is. If you want to solve the problem, that's how. If you choose not to do it, get used to the blisters.

    this is key. "finding time" vs making time.

    If it's important- you can make time and money do what you need it to.

    I don't really think it's my shoes that are the problem.. I have only encountered this problem within the last month and I was using the same shoes as before

    It could be anything shoe fit. The type of socks you're using thick vs thin(one running session I used different socks than usual and ended up with a blister never used those socks for running again). Or the way you run. (how your feet hit the ground)

    Are you wearing cotton socks? Cotton is the worst thing to wear when trying to avoid friction.....at least for me it is.

    How old are the shoes? How many miles on them? Do you only use them for running or are they multi-purpose?

    It's a bit odd to get blisters in older shoes where you've not had problems before, unless you've changed socks or your stride or distance, appreciably. Then again I have one pair where toe friction doesn't really show up unless I'm on a long run (2+ hours). The toe box in that model is a little smaller than my other shoes.

    Believe or not......I wear ped's under my socks! Works the same as two layer socks made especially for blisters. I bodygluide my blister prone spots if I'm going for a long run, fartleks or trail runs.

    I used to get blisters from a seam on a specific brand of shoe. A strip of well-placed duct tape on the inside of the shoe resolved the problem.

    I developed a blister on my big toe after I had well over 100 miles on my shoes. I went back to the store to have them checked and it turns out I am pretty hard on the insoles. The sales guy added some molding and gave me some blister powder to put in my socks. Several runs later and the problem is gone.

    Moral of the story is don't assume your shoes are fine. Mine were fine for over a month and suddenly I had an issue. Since I got them from a good store I was able to have them adjusted. Sure I paid a little more but the 30+ minutes they spent with me (and the free powder) makes it worth it.
