I have been eating around 1200 calories for about 4 months. I'm still losing but within 20 lbs of my goal weight. (Although I may want to lose a little more once I get there, unsure at this point) I did all the calculations he suggested but I don't want to change anything until I'm sure I'm doing this right.
My BMR was 1592. With light activity, some chart showed me how much I should be eating. Is that my TDEE? I work out 5-6 days a week but I'm only burning around 200 (Power 90 sculpt days) - 400 (cardio) calories, nothing major. Should I use light since my burns aren't big? And then do I subtract 20% and that is my calorie goal?
Light 2189 less 20%= 1751
Moderate 2468 less 20% = 1974
Should I be eating that much to lose weight? That seems like a lot of calories!! I can't imagine my body would lose eating that much. I would be eating more calories (using moderate) my than my teenage son who is under the care of a doctor, nutritionist and fitness trainer, although he has a lot to lose. If I up my calories, shouldn't I do it slowly?

This sounds right to me, but without seeing your stats it's hard to be sure.
Yes, if you're upping your calories by so much most people recommend increasing by about 100 per week to give the body time to adjust. Weight loss is always about estimates, so you'll have to pick a number and see if it works for you. I would just recommend waiting about a month to see if it's working. Water retention, etc. can really mess with the numbers for a couple of weeks.0 -
Sedentary = 1600 * 1.2 = 1920 add 300 for exercise =2220 take off 20% (444) = 1780 cals a day to eat.
You don't count as moderate to my mind - (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week, approx. 870 Cal/day)0 -

Yeah, I wasn't thinking moderate either, but I was thinking light. You think I should use sedentary and add back calories? I thought the whole idea was to not add them back. This whole thing is confusing to me. I tried adding just 100 calories yesterday and gained .4 lbs. in one day.I'm going on a cruise in 8 days so I think I will wait to make any calorie adjustments until then. I'm sure I will eat more than 1200 on the ship, although I will still try to be careful and continue to workout.
