So my new found love is avocados, I bought about 6 for the week and until I actually logged it I never realized how high in calories and fat they are. I wanted to eat one a day but considering everything I'm questioning if a whole one is too much, also seeing as many people only eat half of one. Diary is open so you can check out my log yesterday for when I logged it, I logged it in for today already but haven't had lunch yet. I tried searching for an answer before annoying you guys with yet again another question which has probably been asked 100 times but they all seemed to be mixed reviews. Asking on here to see if I can find a more clear answer, thanks.

I eat a lot of avocados. About one whole one per day. There are like a ton of different calorie counts in the database for them. Unsure why? All I know is I lost weight while eating around one per day. I just kept within my calorie limits for the day. It helped me stay satisfied having an avocado with dinner. Plus it goes real well with carne asada as guacamole. Also eating it straight from the shell with salt and pepper as a snack is satisfying. For me at least.0

If you like eating a whole avocado then I say, go for it! I love avocados, too, and as a vegan I get a lot of my dietary fats from avocados. I actually lost a few pounds after adding whole avocados to my diet on a semi-regular basis. They can get expensive, though
but if you pay attention to when and where they are on sale and don't mind "store-hopping" to get them, it shouldn't be a problem.

I would say to eat however much fits your MACROs. A half avocado would be easier for me to fit in than a whole one, but if you want a whole one than eat it- just adjust the rest of your day accordingly so you don't go over on your fat intake.0

Avocados have a lot of GOOD, heart healthy fats. Yes, they are calorie dense..so from that standpoint you do have to monitor, but they are a very nutrient dense foods as well and very good for you. Don't confuse energy (calories) with nutrition...there are any number of foods that are both extremely calorie dense as well as nutrient dense...conversely, there are any number of foods with very few calories...but also very little nutrition.0

I agree-- if it fits your macros go for it.
Additionally, the high fat content of avocados is mostly unsaturated. Your body does need fat and getting it from avocados is way better than a lot of other places.
I tend to eat between 1/2-1 avocado a day and maintain my 112 pound weight loss without a problem!0 -
