No thyroid...discouraged but trying to stay focused!

So...I am trying my best to stay focused on healthy choices. I am 33 and I had a total thyroidectomy in 2012. I was at a somewhat healthy weight then but I got pregnant with my 3rd child. I gained a lot. After my previous 2 kids I used MFP very successfully when I focused on exercising, making healthy food choices and strictly watched my calories I lost weight pretty quickly. It would loose 5 pounds a week easily in the beginning.

I have been struggling with other health issues such as: mood swings, feeling cold a lot, hair loss, heavy painful cycles. I take 125mcg Synthyroid daily at least an hour before eating.

I have been strictly monitoring my food and exercising for more than a week (I know that's really not that long but to me it feels like an eternity). I am 5'2' and the start weight was 194lbs. I am at 192lbs today. My goal weight is 140lbs.

I guess I am here writing this in hopes to find others who might have similar experiences. Is there hope for those who have no thyroid to lead a healthy life? Am I doing something wrong?

I am a teacher and I am about to go back to work next week. I know I will be heavily tempted to make poor choices. I am worried if I don't feel better about my progress I might slip back into poor habits

I do not have thyroid issues thank heavens (knock wood), but I know people who do. Eating seaweed will help with the thyroid issues. Yeah, I know: people either love or hate seaweed. I find it easiest to use from a shaker. Try googling "Granulated Kelp Seaweed." Or go to www.seaveg.com.

I have a very low thyroid, I take .225 mcg daily. I had been taking it with my Zantac, but changed that around. I've lost 22 lbs since January which the dr says is excellent. I, on the other hand am super frustrated it's not more-total loss, 55 lbs. to go-45-50 at least. It's possible. If you are having symptoms that your thyroid is still low, you may neeed an adjustment. Remember this is the long haul, not an instant process. Between logging your calories and exercise, it will happen. If you can exercise, it will help, it will also give you more of the appearance you are going for. There are lots of exercises you can do using your kids or with your kids. I would google it and see what what works for you. You CAN DO THIS!!!! you are welcome to send me a friend request if you'd like.

3rd child is about when I started having thyroid problems. I thought I was just tired from having 3 children under 4 but my doctor decided to do blood tests. Eating well and exercise helps with the mood swings, hair loss and heavy painful cycles. Unfortunately other than wearing tons of layers I have not found what helps with feeling cold although exercise helps some. Patience is key. It is just slower but not impossible.

I have Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid disease). I lost more slowly than most MFPers, so be patient! But I did it just like everbody else—by learning to log everything I eat & drink accurately & honestly. Logging works.

I followed the advice in the Sexypants post: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p1
