Needing encouragement.

Feeling a bit discouraged. I was eating really healthy for about a week and stayed at about 1600 calories which is recommended for me to lose weight. Then I fell off. I binged and ate WAY more than necessary. I'm finding it hard to get motivation again. Do you guys have any encouragement to get back on track? It's not like I was even really hungry when I overate. I don't know why. I just want to reach my goal to lose at least 10lbs or so.
Any encouragement is welcome, not negativity. Thank you.

Every day is a new one and a fresh start. You should look at why you binged so you understand it and avoid it happening in future. If you are looking for motivation you know that by eating at a consistent deficit you will lose weight, so ask yourself if you are willing to commit and do what it takes to lose that weight or you are not?
10lbs is 35,000 calories you will have to create over time, but why not just focus on doing things right for 1 day as well as the next 1lb and treat each 1lb as a new diet. When people binge they are told to log it and move on. No point feeling sad, juts believe you cna do it beause you can if you really wnat it.0 -
You need to understand a few things also, when people binge it's more of a food addiction just like a drug addiction you eat for your brain to release dopamine, the more you eat the more dopamine is released, usually bingers have a smaller production of dopamine so you instinctively eat more to get the same effect, This is something I have always battled with my entire life. You need to pay attention on what foods release the most dopemine and trigger a binge (Favorite foods), mine was pasta so what I did is went with a hunter gatherer life style change which cut out all those trouble foods for me. After a year and half on this I can safely say I don't miss all the foods I used to love, I don't crave them because I'm satisfied with my diet, I trained my brain to crave vegetables and healthy foods over junk and processed foods. If your serious about losing weight than you need to focus on a lifestyle change not just a diet. Diets are temperary where a lifestyle change is forever. I can go out to eat, go to the club or a bar and can find something to eat without having to starve myself to save up the calories ext. I also may have one or two beers when I go out or not drink at all and still have a good time. I don't drink coffee or pop, just water, I stopped logging what I ate and I recently started again and I found I had to eat more lol I still only eat around 1100-1300 cals a day but go over on iron and all my vitamins, eat around 110 carbs, under 56g of fat and 95-115g of protien consistently. Eating all natural feels better and I have more energy than I did having to drink energy drinks like water at one point in my life. That's just a few things to think about, it doesn't all happen at once and don't get discouraged.0

There's no magical motivation which we can always rely on. Some days we'll feel motivated, others not as much, some we just can't be bothered at all. Everyone feels like this.
What you then have to rely on is your will to carry on, if you want it you will, if you're not 100% ready for getting the results you'd like then you won't get them.

You're right. I think I'm really hard on myself sometimes and look at the big picture, thus getting overwhelmed. It's true that I'm willing to get to my goal, I just need to find another outlet than eating to let out stress/frustration. Think that's the main trigger. Thanks for your response!0 -

That's one of the things too! I have trouble with not eating one cookie, but eating a whole pack. With certain foods I cannot trust myself with. I don't just ever want one. That's so smart to kind of distance yourself from foods that you can't trust yourself with, until you don't see it like that anymore. Good tips!0 -

Very true. Good point, we probably all have days where we just want to give up, but just keep going anyway. Thanks!0 -

I will try that, thanks! Probably a good idea, sometimes I feel so tight with different things happening. Good idea just to let it go and breathe.0 -
Don't be too hard on yourself!
We all go through stuff like this. Its a life style change full of trail and error. You made a mistake , we all do !! Nobody here is perfect.
Pick up tomorrow and start fresh. Move forward from this and try to learn from it. What caused this ? Where you emotional eating ? If so, how can you do better next time ?( calling a friend to talk about problems or writing in a journal ) or was it bored eating? If so , what can you do next time to prevent it? ( take a bubble bath, paint your nails) you get my point. Make it a learning experience and be more forgiving of yourself.0
