sugar is bad,
fruits have sugar,
I shouldn't eat foods that are bad,
therefore, I shouldn't eat fruit?
perhaps the first premise in that argument is incorrect . . .
Exactly. So, logically...

And therefore.......A WITCH! Burn her...burn her......

Oh I absolutely agree. The only thing that makes the sugar in fruit better than refined sugars is the high fiber content. That means its better, but that doesn't mean that refined sugar is evil... but I love these threads... so carry on...

No, popcorn has carbs and some have sugar.
Here's some bacon

Fruit sugar is fine, it's more of the refined sugars that you should stay away from
How exactly are these different sugars recognized by the body? Sugars are sugars once they are broken down.
It's not the sugar itself so much as sugar from fruit comes from a whole food source. The vitamins, minerals, and fiber that you get from most fruits outweigh the downsides of consuming the sugar. Conversely, adding refined sugar to most things does nothing, nutritionally speaking, other than add calories.
That said, "added sugar" is typically in the form of granulated/white/table sugar or HFCS, both of which are a refined combination of fructose and glucose. In all consumption of these types of sugars, the glucose is sent straight to the blood stream, while the fructose is sent to the liver for further processing.
In the case of glucose, your body reacts with insulin to either shuttle the glucose to the cells for energy, or dumps it into fat cells for later use. In the case of fructose, the body either converts it to glucose and dumps it into the bloodstream (gluconeogenisis) or converts it to fat (namely, triglycerides) for storage. What either of these do with them depends largely on your glycogen stores.
Fructose is often considered "better," because it doesn't create the same insulin response as glucose. However, it can still contribute to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and elevated serum triglyceride when consumed in large quantities over a period of time.0 -
Unless you have a medical reason to monitor your sugar intake, don't worry about it.
Just in case you weren't aware of this feature, when you go to the message boards section, there is a button called search and you can type in a keyword/phrase (ex: sugar) and you can see the threads that have already been created on the topic. Good luck!
