Hi all, I'm a 58 year old guy who joined 2 years ago but couldn't keep it up and gave up. Fast forward to 4-5 months ago, weighing 298 and noticing I was always thirsty. Sure enough Doc said I was prediabetic and had 2 directions to go. Be a type 2 diabetic or lose weight and probably be ok with the right diet and exercise.
Joined "Take Shape for Life" which is the doctor's side of Medifast. Lost from 298 to 245 eating their foods and one "lean and green" meal per day. Finally got tired of the food but was extremely concerned about "undoing" what I had accomplished. Renewed my account on MyFitnessPal and for the last month to month and half have been logging in everything I eat PLUS been walking around 12-16 miles per week. Have not gained back anything, actually lost a couple. I stay at or below 2000 calories per day. Also, I don't figure in the exercise calories into my daily goal.
I really have gotten into the habit of "thinking" about what I eat beforehand and now it's become a habit. I'm confident I am developing habits that'll stay with me for the rest of my life.
